Tetra...
You do not know the entirety of what the karavan side had done, and what we had to do. Just like we don't know exactly what the kami side faced. The mob densities were changed once they announced the event in game, and further increased in population afterwards. You guys did great, you 'won' the event to see who could defend their homes. I'm proud to say I did the best I could in the circumstances that were present. What I had said in klient afterwards was out of pure frustration of changing an event that, to me, was based on defending my homelands, and fighting against a threat to Atys, into some, in my opinion, cheesed out competition, that leaves the 'losing' side feeling like crap because they were 'defeated', then the only sign of defeat was it being announced over all regions. If we lost our cities due to invasion, then yes, I would expect to have a feeling of loss, but not when I fought hard and bravely and we DIDN'T lose our towns. If I wanted player competition, I'd still be playing Shadowbane. I'm not about being better than my fellow player, I'm about doing the best I can to help them.
Adieu~

OK ... this has turned into an ugly quagmire into which I have no plans of jumping.
I would like to share a bit of intel from a guild member's mistake that occured some time ago. While there was a group out killing Kipee, someone mistargeted and drilled some Icon Worshippers. That *group's* fame took a nosedive. Instantly. Killing faction members is the fastest and riskiest way to alter your fame at any time. This was not specific to this event only. I cannot recall the exact number, but I think by the time it was all said and done, the group suffered a neg ten or higher hit to fame for one group of IW. Not fun.

Ok, so what Karavan groups are there that are the same level as the Icon Worshippers?

Green Seed in Matis would be one I believe.

Just as an addendum, another member double clicked an IW guard thinking they had the Welcomer targeted. Knowing about the above problem, they immediately sat down and the guards proceeded to kill the individual. That individual lost 3 or 4 IW fame points just for attacking the IW. As Pandorae said, attacking tribes is an easy but risky way to radically impact fame.

I pretty much feel as Zzei has started in her posts. I don't mind the "friendly" competition. It was clear to me that it was the Kami followers vs the Karavan in a lovely PvE event. Some people are sore loosers now matter what compeition they are in, from a game of checkers to some full on PvP. Others can be sore winners, beating their chests about something silly.
There are always those that like to put down one side or another. I don't feel the difficulties the Karavan suffered made the work that was put into the Kami side any less admirable. Those that say different are wrong.
One guy brought up the concept of Teamspeak. I'm sorry to say that, I find that Teamspeak breaks my RP immersion. Teamspeak doesn't come with Ryzom and it should not be required for me to play it and succeed.
I have no idea why the Karavan lost. They didn't seem to have enough high level players. Maybe that denotes less powergamers on one side or another. I'm not in any hurry to reach 250. I'm level 60 in my best skill. My being in that event wasn't going to change it one way or another.

I've got an idea!
If the devs want to give rewards to Events accomplishments, they should have a separated type of fame.
e.g. There should be a distinction between mission fames and Event fames.
And they could do something like if you have high mission fames, you have different scripted events/missions then if you have high Event fames.
Someone go put this on the wishlist. I am so lazy.

Oh, also, me and another guild member of mine were messing around killing Icon Worshippers. Killing the tribes wandering around the land doesn't seem to effect anything, so for the shear enjoyment and sadistical fun of it, we decided to assault their main camp. We quickly realized that attacking their main camp (e.g. guards) will caused our fame to nose-dive, across the board (global, personal, guild, and civ), both for the tribe and Kami they're allied with. Eeek!
I have been running missions for both the kami and Icon Worshipers to made up for me evil deed

You have to kill tribe memebrs that are high enough level for you to get experience for it to impact yoru fame.
Also you cannot lose (or gain) fame unless you actually kill one.
I can't believe how much misinformation is flying around this post.

Both the incidents Pandorae and I relate happened, they are not misinformation. Now, both also happened pre-Patch1 and a number of major changes were made to the fame system at that point, which could make these situations invalid now, regardless I suspect you are very wrong on the point that you have to gain xp to lose fame.
