How much taxes do we pay? Now then THAT would be the question...too bad it is SO hard to answer. In some states, they have...Federal income tax, state income taxes, city sales taxes, State sales taxes, added sales taxes for education, roads or various sports arenas. If you have a profit from the Stock market, you are double taxed. PLUS, the federal income taxes are progressive, the more you make...the more you are punished...I mean taxed...well same thing really.

Then there is property taxes which are based on the SUPPOSED value of the property/house, but which in reality is more of a subjective fee, the values of the houses are NORMALLY inflated QUITE a bit (when I filed a complaint I recieved several THOUSAND dollars in refund due to "a slight oversight on our books" *rolls eyes* Yeah right sure, what about the other TEN houses on my block that DID NOT challange the "oversight".)
Which that is the whole truth of the matter...IF and WHEN you work...the money you earn is YOURS...not your governments to ALLOW you to have a small part of like you were some KID *snorts*

Sorry I think governments waste INTIRELY TOO much money to be allowed to have TOO much of OUR money. For instance, a soup kitchen feeding the hungry/homeless/poor 90cents of EVERY dollar actually feeds the people, the goverment spends 75 cents on red tape, and the people get 25 cents. Same thing goes for medical care, child care, housing and on and on.

I have YET to find anything that ANY government, ANYWHERE on this earth has EVER done better or more efficiently than its people. Military is necessarily in the governments hands, but would be MUCH more affordable, if a way for the PEOPLE to run the financial end of it was found.

And YES, I know Europe is many nations. Most tend to think of it as a unit.

And many people in the US do choose to either save UP the vacation time or take it in cash bonus form. BUT parents are at a bad spot, take the money as a bonus or take the time and actually get to watch your kids grow and learn...hard choice. But No one will EVER regrete the day they missed at the office.

And whether or not people take the time...that is up to the person. If they aren't "family" motivated but rather MONEY motivated...well you know what they choose.

Plus I am not sure of the LEGAL end of vacation time and all that. I do know that if you work MANY "part time" jobs (less than 40 hours per week) you can add UP to more than a full time job, but get NO benefits of ANY kind. No vacation time, no health insurrance (most people pay at least PART of their insurrance and then pay co payments and at least PART of their medications...which are more expensive here than ANYWHERE on earth.). And MANY of the single moms in the US work two or three part time jobs to support their kids.

And Yeah, rent is pricey here too. By the time we have paid all the taxes, paid the rent and electric bills, and put gas in the cars, food on the table, clothes and shoes on the kids, there isn't a HUGE amount floating around to either save or spend on "wants.

As to what I did this weekend, I went on a business trip. Scoping out new suppliers for goods I sell in my shop. It went well, found a MUCH better price than I was already spending. Plus...as a bonus, I got lots of time with hubby and the kids.

*hearty laugh* I make a MUCH better boss than any other I ever had, aint easy work, but worth it.

Socialism is nothing new here, in fact Social democrat parties have been the more popular parties in many of the wealthier countries here for the majority of this century. So it's not really forming, it's been embraced for a very long time.
In Sweden it's common for a worker to work 48 hours a week, in most other countries it's more than that i think. So the difference isn't that big.
The hours here are in the process of becoming even fewer and that's a good thing for the idividual. You should ask your president to try that sometime :)

We don't really get our vacation paid, we work a little longer every day and the extra pay accumulates into our vacation salary. In sweden, we have 25 days of 'paid' vacation every year, but we have already done the work for that time throughout the rest of the year.
I don't know how it's done in the US, but if you're actually given those two weeks you should consider yourselves priviliged. ;)

Housewives are pretty much non-existant here, two incomes are typical in families. It's needed in a country where the income tax is at around 33%, V.A.T. is at 25% and at least half of what's left of the salary typically goes to paying the rent. How much tax do you pay?
Even with a huge income, though, people here wants to work so even the wealthiest families has two incomes.

I think the number of follow up patches are speaking for themselves. It takes time to gather feedback, come up with the best solutions without affecting something else, code a patch, test the patch, schedule a time for patching servers with the internet providers and coordinate the servers (The servers are hundreds of miles apart and have to be patched simultaneously).

I have some insight in what's happening, i've worked with tech support and customer service for years (For a big internet provider, DSL and LAN) and to me it doesn't seem like Nevrax is handling things any differently than any other companies would. (And for some reason i 've seen theese same discussions and arguments on boards of the same kind for years and years.)

You don't need Nevrax to tell you to do something more fun in the weekends, just do it ;) and do the gaming afterwards...that way you can have twice the fun :)
