By what standard? I do think they'd have done well to release a patch at the same time as this announcement, in any case.

The non-fanboy/girl-standard-of-real-world-ness. (yah, I just made that up ;) )

Can't really to be arsed to go in to the details that we've gone over a million times already on these boards, but in summary: 3 small patches in 8 months... Yeah, pretty awesome by Ryzom standards. Compared to other games? Not so much.

Had billing of been restored from the get-go it may of been sufficant. Now though they've missed the boat, the inital flurry of excitement went long ago. The place is getting more dead by the week, at least on Arispotle, and lets face it, if the English-speaking server isn't well populated there's gotta be something very wrong.

I think it's a big mistake to go ahead with billing after so long without the kind of incentive a large content update would bring.

Lets hope I'm wrong.

I haven't been a fangirl for a while; I don't even play the game anymore. It just so happens that I am not your kind of realist.

Reality #1: A "large content update" cannot and could never have happened during the first year of WG's ownership.

#2: It's folly to hold Ryzom to the same standard as other games.

#3: If they could have implemented billing earlier, they would have.

Wel you have to consider the bigger picture otherwise you're being completely clueless/naive.. Its been 8 months of legal paperwork, buisness battles, sparring with lawers and copywrite holders, relearning game-code that probably some had never seen, relearning the servers' setups and configurations that probably some knew nothing about... and they still managed to keep the servers running with very few glitches! and even added a few patches!

To me this amounts to alot of work and dedication and deserves mucho kudos! We just need a regular dev blog to appease all our questions and comments, surprise is one thing, but loosing players because they don't know anything is coming is another issue entirely.

Most of what Ani says I can agree with but this line most of all.
I'm not wanting some huge patch that makes everything new again, just a small shiny reason to make me fall in love with Ryzom again. Sadly I'm fresh out of hope, I guess it happens when you spend everyday wondering if tomorrow the planet will still be here.
I think the patches were pretty nice. They fixed what the former jerk-offs broke, added KP back, made some icons for quests and I hear made the Island more friendly to new comers. Yay for them.
And honestly, I'm sure I'll sub Eris' account for at least for the first month. It would be nice to get something back for it besides a shiny chat program.

Although IANWG (I am not Winch Gate), I'd be very very very surpised (and unhappy) if they did a character wipe soon after 4 may. Luckily the current owners still have a spotless record regarding doing stupid things ;)

raven58 wrote:Just a Question ~ Yumeroh/Winch Gate!

Will any inactive toons be wiped/removed from the Servers after the subscriptions start from the 4th May?

I think you should have read whole original post:
Yumeroh wrote:* Should I start over?

Of course not - not unless you want to! You will keep all of your characters. :)

I'm not english native, but this sentence, imho, means just they will not remove any character. And if Nevrax/GF never removed inactive character in the past, why WG should do now?

I think Yumeroh's post was clear and complete.

He even answered, indirectly, to the big question about having "more communication" on the ryzom development. He said they want to surprise us. This is an answer.
Yumeroh wrote: We don't want to say specifically what we will be working on because we want to surprise you and we don't want to promise what we can't actually deliver on time. We strongly believe that it's better to say we'll do something and then deliver it very soon, rather than give you "pie in the sky" ideas and then never deliver them.
Anyway no one here asked you to promise what you can't actually deliver on time but simply more communication, the things you can actually deliver on time :)

Anyway, I'm happy to see everything sorted out. Good job! ;)

Yumeroh was talking about Active players..infact those who wish to subscribe when we come to May!..some may wish to start afresh with a new toon ..while others may wish to carry on with a toon they already have come May 4th.
I was just asking about those who wish to not subscribe come may 4th and are Inactive for a period of time "would they still have a toon to come back to?" Now all i am asking is for Yumeroh or someone from WG to just post back (yes or no) but Whatever!!
