It is the 6th most spoken lang (
REF) And im guessing GF have other games with a decent % of portuguese players, and have dealings with portuguese speaking people. *shrug* All will be revealed no doubt...

Somewhat baffling decision, i don't think i have ever seen a portuguese server on a games server list before and only spanish and italian for the larger ones. Any further elaboration?

I've played many (US-based) games where the population had those from Portugal (well, Portuguese-speaking people) as the second highest, following those from North America who spoke English. One that comes to mind immediately was also a browser-based game, like GF's other games.
Portuguese sounds like a logical choice to me from my past gaming experience, but given Phelan's IRC conversation, I agree it sounds a little odd from that point of view.

I suspect some related financial incentive too is involved, interested in promoting portuguese language games, that would explain alot of this decision.
