Many of us enjoy Ryzom because the game makes sense and it has a story. The factions do things for a reason. A reason that goes beyond basic hack/dig/craft grind sinks. They are a culture, it is this culture that makes Ryzom different from the rest.
Changing things to Make faction PvP a new grind skill that has no redeeming factor (does not aid anyone in anyway) would totally destroy the philosophical backbone that makes this a 'living' world. If the factions just become an automated reward and mission giving tool, then what makes Ryzom different?
I am not against faction rewards, I am strongly opposed to the factions actively encouraging and rewarding pointless skirmishes and becoming nothing more then new grind farms. This was only asked for in hopes of circumventing the established community. If it becomes possible to get phat loot from the factions, the player community would become irrelevant and Ryzom would be one step closer to PK paradise.
Meaningless fighting makes for a meaningless game. This is a stupid, stupid idea.
Again, give us something new. Do not change the game, add to it.

My 2 cent on this post, this is btw, my ONLY arguement against atm.
yes its a beautiful game the way it is, but do it, for fun?
I would love it, and as im sure many others would too

Outside of E2, Honor Points were very bugged and should never have been enabled.
Random example: I received Zorai Honor Points for killing a yber while two Karavan teammates dueled.
So the Honor Point system would need a lot of work if it were to be turned on. But why should it be?
There is no reason at all to reward random killing.
IF it were to be turned on, Honor Points should be given our for completing missions, not for PvP (maybe outpost battles, but that's tricky). Something that's actually aiding the faction.
But I don't even want to see that happen, yet. The rewards need to be addressed first. The Factions shields practically put shield crafters out of business from just the short time they were available. Make them always available and shield crafting would become totally useless. (The lack of requirements merely compounds the problem) The same could be said about the caster pants, but to a lesser extent- at least people still need the rest of the outfit.
So to turn it on they'd ave to fix the rewards and re-develop how the points are given out.
I'd rather see the effort put into running another E2 like event, or something else new entirely.

i thought doing things just for fun was the point of the game... its not a "grind" and there is nothing all that significant i could gain from it, but for those that do enjoy PVP it would be fun

.
Instead of giving out shields as a reward, make it a one time use plan for a shield
that would make the crafters extremely important

If the reward points are to be brought back into play they need to look at how they are given, because its unfair for just the PvPers to get honour points as some items are picks and mats, which is also related to digging.
It would be nice to see land honour points, for example you can get race items for doing things for your race. It makes being a certain race unique. Maybe race missions could give race points. Would be very handy if towers/spires brought this into play.
Its just a thought, the more content the better
GF seem to be sorting out areas so we know they are working hard on the game

I see no point in making event based Honour points available without an event to go with them. If they were available all the time what would you spend all those points on?
The Temple event was well over a year ago and I still have unspent points. If I wanted to spend them on XP crystals they would prolly all be gone by now, which would then make OP ownership less important imo.
Making any items available as a one off craft plan isn't a bad idea, but, unless getting that craft plan took more effort than it was worth, everyone would only use Honour point items and the crafters would lose out.

Nevermind, I withdraw my request for anything to be done. Change of any kind is obviously controversial.

Of course, and that controvesy is witch makes the different between a good change or a bad change.
I think that one of the greatest things of this community (At leas the part that is, as me, forum-crawlers) is that almos anything can be discussed without lost the north and make a flame (And, the flamefest here are not the real thing. They are really paceful). I sometimes makes suggestions that other players find bad ideas... they explain their point and sometimes I disagree... other times I have to agree with them.
I think this kind of discussion, with all the points of view, all the plus and the contras about all the ideas are a very good clue to GF for the changes they want to make. After all, noone knows better the game than us.

Every little and large change affects the entire concept of the game and its community. Therefore, every change is due heavy consideration and weighing by diverse players.
