Actually I think that it would improve the balance if a smaller side held equal OPs. People would drift towards that side as they get more crystals per person. Unfortunately it doesnt work that way and you get small guilds like GoJ holding an OP because they are part of a huge alliance, so they get fat on the produce while others starve.
how many people actually make their gameplay decisions based on cats ?
Is the player base that mercenary, and the lore and back story so inconsequential, that every new convert just goes after the money ?
I spose if the Kami cheer squad keep riding their underdog status they gain some masochist players, but for people who are actually into Ryzom, and not just looking for another game to beat, cats are a distraction.

Of course it does. Reapers have a q200 OP right?
sehracii wrote:Small guilds holding outposts is not just the result of big alliances. There are better examples outside the huge alliance you speak of.
Really? Like who?
sehracii wrote:The "drift to the side with more outposts" theory has been proven incorrect. Otherwise one side would have taken over. It hits a critical mass and community factors keep the sides in check.
See Jyudas' answer.

Not every, just a significant percentage. I mean, let us consider for example Enia and Sakura, who quit RotS because "they get more cats in Citizenz of Matis" a while back. Or map the growth of guilds holding OPs vs guilds without.

Thats one oppinion. If you dont care about cats or outposts, why are you bothering to post here again?

I'm basing it on battle figures. At the largest battles there are approximate even numbers from both sides, whatever you want to call those sides
If there is a huge contingent of non-PvPers who don't show up, there's not much we can do about that. Nevrax needs to introduce non-PvP options, as the current outpost takeover system is nothing but PvP.
And yes, Reapers own a Q200 outpost. But the produce of said outpost goes to more than just Reapers. Alliances don't work if you get fat on your spoils without sharing.
I'm not going to name names of what guilds are too small for what outpost, thats not my place. You can look over the list and decide for yourself.

The Karavan numbers dont vary hugely from battle to battle compared to the rest. So of course if more non-Kami help the Kami then the battle will be larger, and the sides will be more equal. But that doesnt happen every time now does it? Because those peak numbers are only available at limited points for one side, but more readily available around the clock for the other.

And I am sure you get plenty of other stuff back. Bet you get more cats per week than a non "KA" member no matter how much you "share" you still end up better off than most.

Then dont use the point. Statements you cant justify are just more propaganda.

Wouldn't that mean they have more people and need more outposts to balance cats per person?

No, we do not sell OP products for dapper/mats, whatever. Its given to OPless allies for free and OP owning allies (and sometimes non-allies) 1:1 trades for their stuff.
How do you know how many cats a KA person gets as opposed to a non KA? Do you know how many cats are distributed on each side? Do you know how many people are on each side?

Naming names would be propaganda, I'm not into that.
I only ask people to come to their own conclusions by looking at all the information available.
I can however assure you GoJ have more then 6 members.

Sure if you wish to perpetuate the imbalance and continue to drive it over in that direction. I think we discussed this already? Or was that another thread... they all blur together for me.

Heheh, maybe you personally dont, but how do I know that you have more to use? Simple. When I shop around to buy cats for dappers it's the KA members that always have plenty available to trade.

Uhuh, not at all I'm sure you arent. And I know GoJ do _now_. But I doubt they had much more than that when they got their outpost... And they are still a tiny guild (at least by activity level, who knows if they have 200 people on the guild rosta?).

Also why not having a minimum of 5 guards. Minor balancing detail imo.
I might have missed your point, but I thought that you meant that outpost that are held longer will degrade defense. And the second line I posted was in jest.

sorry, the first half was a question vaguely relevant to the topic, the second part was an overreaction brought on by reading too many OP threads..
I was tired, I was irritated..
we need a name for the negative reaction people have to discussing OPs and the PvP associated with them
Irritable OP syndrome ?
Forum PvP allergy ?
attention deficit hyperactive posting disorder ?

I would urge any guild of any faction, that if you have held an OP for more than 6 months, just give it up to some other guild that has not held an OP. Holding your OP month after month may benefit your guild, but slowly cripples the world by discouraging new players from staying and new guilds from growing. Of course you OP holders can respond with the usual "it's war, deal with it," or "why should the strong give to the weak," or "if attackers were skilled like us, they could take an OP," etc. I know, these things may be true. Nevertheless, a guild's honor and strength can be demonstrated through sacrifice and generosity as much as by its power to posses. If you love the game as much as many of you profess to, then do something radical and noteworthy to help it grow. Hoping that Nevrax improves the mechanics is good, but we as players are also responsible for turning the world into what we want it to be.
