This is not happening here if you have to craft in the housing zone, to rip the benefits of all the structure bonus.
Ryzom is not Daoc.

Unfortunately what happens then is the housing zone becomes cluttered with houses that belong to inactive players. Since like most other games Ryzom keeps your toon data for a long period of time, there will end up being lots of inactive houses cluttering up the countryside as people quit or take a break.

Well if there's not some serious content making it up to Ryzom soon, the whole mainland might become "inactive".
If people would post ideas or solutions instead of bashing the few suggestions in this thread, it might become more constructive.

Someone has to point out the positives and negatives of ideas. In every game that I have played that has player housing there has been the problem of abandoned houses, this isnt bashing- this is simply a statement of fact. I prefer the idea of instanced housing that can be extended through purchasing or "building".
The whole thing is that this is a forum- if you post something you should no be upset or feel like people are bashing should they point out the negatives to an idea. The idea behind forums is to discuss
But without some type of dev interaction on the subject all we are doing is blowing hot air because these very ideas have been discussed and dissected to death many times in the near and distant past...

I believe the intention of the thread was for people to express a few of their dreams. Anyone that has enjoyed a feature in another game that cannot be found here can surely be allowed to dream that something similar be featured on Atys and made relevant here? With regard to player housing, for example, my brief foray into EQII left me massively impressed with the apartments in Freeport, and I would love to be able to allow people into my apartment in Yrkanis, to be able to rent different types and sizes of apartment and to furnish them the way that I want.
I have heard of abandoned houses and ghost towns which blighted the scenery in SWG. If something similar were to be introduced on Atys, there is an inbuilt defence - Atys is a living and organic entity and reclaims it's own.
That's fairly low on my wish list though, compared to the ability to make an impression upon Atys, to have an influence upon the environment, the goo, the politics, the tribes, the Ks ... The only influence that we seem to have now, other than amongst ourselves, is very fleeting - mobs, sources, Kami tolerance, all respawn or regenerate regularly and return to certain starting points.

Nothing to be upset of, but if you look at the whole thread, the next post which gonna say : " Let's have another planet to discover "
will meet some " No it will make Atys deserted " or " No my mektoubs might not be able to survive the trip " etc..

1. Real player houses in the REAL world (R2 dosnt cut it)
2. Player clothing options.
3. More mounts.
4. Food items.
5. More options in armor color (That the crafter shooses not the Materials you use).
6. More face, hair, and body options.
7. Entertainment skills such as dancing ETC...
8. Some form of taming skills tree.
9. Guild halls.
10. More events.
...
All of the above would be great additions to the game and I'd love to see at least some of them implemented.
On the other hand I am opposed to significant changes to the game mechanics - most important I do not want to see lootable gear and quests. This is a sandbox game with a player driven economy.
Finally I am unhappy with the trend of making the game easier and easier. For instance, where are the kitin patrols? And I am very unhappy that most of the bosses ca be killed by teams of 3-4 people. I also think that it is high time to fix the guards AI.

I mostly like the way armour colour is determined by armour mats.. makes it a challenge to get the armour you want in an obscure colour scheme
but how about the crafter being able to put a coloured design, like a tatoo, over the armour.. as a variant on the current trim colours and racial logos..

In DAOC, they instituted player housing zones, and it quickly became hundreds of lots with houses, and all dead, nothing happening. A pain to run around in 1000 houses looking for yours.

I was thinking that the lots were limited to about 10 houses each, And not one huge were everyone’s is....but small 10 house areas spread all over the world. And maybe one larger area near towns, and of course improving the housing to include other players ETC...
So, technically that gives three options.
1. Advanced apartment. -
instanced
2. City suburbs. -
Instanced
3. Small villages. –
In the realworld. Subject to attack by argos, Atys will reclaim if not given some sort of “Rent”.

Debate is welcome.

Well said, and IMHO, yes. That should be true.
