Your signature is an advert for yourself schoolboy, that and I've read most of the posts you made and your an idiot.
As for Jyudas assesment on people want easy pvp, for 99% of people that's completely true and anyone who clains otherwise certainly hasn't had their eyes open or played mmorpg longer for 5 minutes, I don't really care if the two people in this thread are or aren't. What the point is in general the majority of people who pvp want a quick easy kill, then to brag about how skillfull they are even though there's almost no skill in mmorpg based pvp it just comes down to level, very very simplistic tactics & latency.
As for a ranking system it would just lead to most people who are into that kind of thing just going around nuking harvesters to get quick easy points so they can get the title quickly etc. Plus the effort required to make a workable system would be a lot of pain, at least one that couldn't be easily abused.
In general most people have come to and like ryzom because it's not a pvp mmorog, its not a clone of every other game out there, its something unique, special and different thats it charm. Making it more like the other mmorpgs just takes away from that. For gods sake check out everyones first comments when they post usually, or what they say in guild etc it's always about how suprised they are at the quality of the game community and peoples attitudes, that towns aren't full of beggars that there isn't stupid l33t chat on the go, that new players arent being instantly ganked etc.
Have a think why ryzom is like that, then have a think if more pvp rewards is something we want...Not to mention the pvp community of ryzom although vocal is a very very small minority.

guess you missed the gladiator league matches. But then again, you're not a pvp fan, so no surprise. PvP won't come find you to show itself off to you. You have to go find it. And so basing all PvPers off the little contact you've had with them isn't exactly fair
Or the group PvP battle that i hosted (also an upcomming PvP tournement - i expect there to be no smack talk. not cos im aking for no smack talk. but becuase i know there wont be.)

Surely it would be better someone who actually PvP's (or at least tried to PvP) in the same way that she/he is critsing. I.E dont know it till youve tried it. The last 3 times ive PvP'd in yrk i have not seen any smack talk in region.
City lag.. erm. you cant be doing that much in a city can u? standing next to the stable? talking to people. yes they are obviously things that challenge your graphics card. (!)
I still cant belive that city PvP "upsets" many people. firstly - it pretty much only happens in yrk. and everyone knows it happens in yrk and how often does it happen now? once a week tops? hmm

No, I attended a couple of the gladiator matches as an observer and one of the team ones to take part.
Never again.

We are getting a bit side tracked here this thread wasnt' about PvP good or bad it was about PvP titles yes or no. So back on topic.
tigrus wrote:So, because they use a few hours to implement something that easy. The rest of us cant have it?... ok..
I see both sides of the story. But i dont really understand how it can hurt?
its just a title
As many people have allready pointed out it won't be "a few hours" of work to implement even in the simplest of implementations. You seem to know little about programming but even a minor change will need to be tested and might affect other parts of the programm in unexpected ways (I know I've tested software for a living)
Further more the nature of the skill system will make it hard to create a system that will reward pk points based on the strength of your opponent as the highest level isn't necessarily the same as player strength.
For instance my dig level is 217 but I have the hitpoints of a lvl 146 fighter and do the damage of a level 203 ele. To give an accurate assesment of my strengt the system would have to take several levels in to account, needless to say it won't be a simple system.

You argued that the running town battles that erupt occasionally don't disrupt anyone's experience in any way, deliberately choosing the least disruptive of the existing PvP encounters yet I can show negative impact from that. To which your answer is to throw up an erroneous comparison with large RP events etc.
I've got an open mind, I'm happy to be proven wrong but that's dependent on actually being proven wrong.
again, your original post said something along the lines of PvP players dont look for challenges but cheap kills. I can name probably 2 players on the whole server who work to this docatrine, I can name a hell of alot more players who strive to find the most challenging players and beat them. Therefore in my opinion your original point was disproved.
I chose yrk raids as that is the most common form of PvP on this server at the moment.
PR - PvP almost a myth these days, I dug myself to master PR and got ganked a whole once nor do I have massive reports of others being ganked there...............doesnt infringe on your gamestyle
tournaments - doesnt infringe on your gamestyle in any way
outposts - does infringe on your gamestyle simply because of how they were implemented. doesnt make players who fight over them worth of banishment to WoW
my overall take on this is why would I spend 1000's of hours grinding skills etc to simply get a fancy title and be done with it. once I master a skill does that mean I should no longer use it because I sure dont get xp for it. The next logical phase then is obviously PvP, find people equally as levelled as you and test your tactical mettle against them. Its more challenging than ANY mobs/bosses on atys.
I'm probably missing a whole world of RP and other aspects of this game that you indulge in and I'm sorry but they have never interested me.
You PvP haters seem to base your whole opinion on the stereotype of a UO gank squad and whereas theres different flavours of RP in your eyes theres only vanilla flavoured PvP. I'm sick of these threads bashing us for spoiling "your" game as I fully believe we could co-exist easily if the hate was dropped.

The two sets of goals are mutually exclusive. They can exist within the same server if they're discrete from each other but unfortunately they're not. I don't know how many more ways I can describe the same problems to get them understood.
The gank squad and one-upmanship mentality is such a persistent stereotype because it is quite accurate. Spend five minutes over on MMORPG.com listening to the words of even the most eloquent PvP advocates.

we are not on MMORPG.com tho, we are here in ryzom with its unique community ethics. The game does not suit the ganker/leet kiddie and only a few make it through the net. Therefore your stereotype cannot and should not apply here.

Not all PvPers are bad... I'v done my share of PvP in Ryzom and I can admit I get the feeling that alot of people just want to win, they don't care about the challenge(there are exceptions)... However I usually try to keep people from flaming eachother so to say all people that PvP flame(or what ever) is intirely inacurate...
Tho you will know when I get mad and want to flame... cus I will stop talking... tho my poor monitor gets flamed then
(I usually flame my monitor when people get flaming in region like idiots)
JY... I do have respect for you,and you're a pretty nice peep(atleast when I see ya) but you sometimes have to learn to accept other peoples views without bashing them into the dirt.
I'm not saying don't fight to keep more PvP out of ryzom because I don't think we need it either
,but about PvP in Yrk bothering ppl?
personnaly I would have thought it was awsome to see when I first came to pyr way back when if I had seen some cool magic flying about
.
(I may or may not be here to respond for the next few hours.)
Oh and...

Lets not start calling people idiots on the forums eh? This kind of stuff is what made me believe Ryzoms community is not as good as it was when I started. And is a big part of the reason it says *semi-inactive* in my sig.

NO - wouldn't fit into Ryzom and would pretty sure be implemented without fixing the failures that they made with this kind of systems in other games...
So... Tiger, if you like to be UBER for a while, have fun in WoW
So, i got pwned as you say becuase of my signature? I gotta hand it to those that hate me because of my signature. You cant say you are ANY better then what you describe ME as.
And for the comments about NOT wanting a challenge. Its the most stupid comment ive seen on these forums so far.
The reason i fight level 250s isnt to win. its because i like the challenge.
Its also why i choose kami based on ONE SINGLE REASON! They are outnumbered. ITS A CHALLENGE.
So quite honestly, take that comment and put it where the sun dont shine.
Because i take offense of it, its a straight out lie.
And unless you CAN PROVE IT. Please dont say it.
And btw, PEOPLE include myself and jackoba. And we want challenges.
Just proved you wrong.

First off, and idiot? And you are? You state your arguing without basing on facts.
Ive been playing SWG since launch. EVE, EQ, Roma-Victor testing.
Dont talk to me about MMORPGs. And certainly not about pvp. Because i love it, did it in all the games.
And i did not gank. I seek the best to fight the best. Because guess what.
I want a challenge. And i can name hundreds of people doing the same.
Now, move along
