To clear up any possible confusion, this action occurred without any prior knowledge by any other guild in the so-called "Karavan Alliance". There has been much debate internally and outside of OmegaV, but this was definitely a decision made by members of our guild. If our allies choose to support us in defense against the MoV counter-attack of Whirling, that support will be appreciated.
Samsara, it looks like your word tactics have finally paid off. Nobody expected to have folks literally crying, quitting guilds, or going on rampages in region chat over a piece of electronic property. That one little button click was not some sort of personal attack on each individual member of the Samsara or any other guild. Know it or not, this is a very sad day for Atys. In this case, the reaction was just as negative as the action and a lot of people might learn from the way things play out.

He played as fast as he can, wonderfully accurate and to a pace that you could not recognize the music of Chopin anymore. Baffled the teacher asks him:
- It's all correct but why are you playing it so fast...
The student (proud of himself): - Why, because I can!

and maybe OV will learn from it as well? It was nothing less than a childish act to undermine the way some ppl were trying to play the game. As babyish as hiding a childs favourite toy so they cant play with it and enjoy it.
It wouldn't have taken any effort to let Sams do as they wished and then to fight for the OP afterwards, but no, that wasnt good enough. Someone had to go and spoil the way people wanted to play the game and that is why there is such an outcry, and to those of you who can't see that and continue to try and justify the action, well you are just as bad as the person who hit the lil declare war button in the first place.

That is life, Spiff. People make a mistake, and will have to learn live with it, and the consequences of it, afterwards. In the end, the person that makes the mistake can only really blame himself.
Let us hope we all learn a bit from it. And to be honest, not just today is a sad day, but the things going on for quite some time are quite sad. But that is just my opinion...

Since I am no longer a member of OV, I have no problem clarifying this....This decision was made by SOME members of OV....not all. Those that will say "oh we didn't know it would cause this kind of stir" apparently weren't listening a month or so back when declarations on OPs were discussed. It was made rather clear what *could* happen if something like this was done. They chose to ignore those concerns.
But it really isn't just about "declaring war on an OP" - this incident has gone WELL beyond just the "mechanics" of the game. It's not even really just over a "little piece of electronic property". The outrage (and emotion) stems from the timing, and the way this was done. Samsara were attempting to continue the RP that they have played as long as I've known of them...as Mercenaries looking for a nice paycheck. They made a decision to let their OP be sold to the highest bidder (of any faction) so they would have money to (RP) start anew. To once again show all of Atys they are truely Neutral (and self-serving mercenaries) that refuse to be pulled into the politics that owning OP's have caused. But alas, there were those that just could not let that be. In their own desire to force their form of fun on everyone else, they destroyed another guild's very last big RP message to all.
It really says a lot about this game, that people have become so bored that they don't care who they step on anymore - even if it's "their own". It is *truely* my saddest day on Atys.

In their own desire to force their form of fun on everyone else
I would argue that that is exactly what all the Anti-pvp people are doing.
Your complainign that there attacking, and yes, the timing was low, but that is still the basis for wich outposts where implemented, to kick up a storm EVERY time an outpost is attacked, your doing exactly what you say you are against

But we aren't forcing our way on anyone else. I never said everyone HAD to try to buy the OP. I never said anyone had to do anything. I presented an alternate way to gain an OP. A way I thought was entertaining for my guild and for others to be involved in.
I thought it would be fun for many types of players. I never tried to force anything. I jsut used the content in a differant way than some people think it HAS to be used.
Just because it's a butter knife doesn't mean it's only made for spreading butter.
