(i don't quite agree with that, but that seems to be what he's asking)
Ah, OK. If that is what is being asked:

Yes, the world is shaped by your decisions as players, but not completely or soley. There are always outside influences and groups that have other ideas. What we are endeavoring to do is make certain that player decisions and actions truly the affect the outcome of those storylines. It may be that war doesn't happen; it may be that war does. To be honest, we won't know until we see how Episode II plays out.

Note this, also: if war comes, you don't have to participate if you don't want to. There will always be non-storyline content and, with the Ring tools, we'll be able to add more of it, quicker. For that matter, YOU will be able to use the tools to design and run content, if you so wish.

It is clearly an exaggeration that no one wants war. Mainly homins are clearly looking forward to it. I would say that there is a vocal majority here on the forum that oppose war but I don't know how a vote of all homins on Atys would go. I have seen many players returning recently after absences of many months or a full year to find out what will happen. I find it very exciting to see the plot moving along and have a chance to impact it.

Also don't confuse In Character opinions with Out of Character opinions. Something that gets confused alot on the forums.

Well after seen some 100 threads about it and reading the response, for me it look like most don't like the ide behind it.

But i think many will take part of it becuse it a event and one tends to get abit bored doing the same thing over and over again.

If it was a major event trying to protect some thing or fight the kitin i don't think we would heard much negative response.

Ganking you friends over and over just to see what you can get for a reward at the end don't sound very fun to me.

i can tell you for sure that ~95% of the german player base is against any kind of war. (altho i was exxagerating, yes, but well, i just wrote what i thought he was asking)

It wouldn't seem to matter whether the players/characters want war...the Kami and Karavan want it, and homins are caught in the middle. So unless characters try to open some kind of diplomacy between the Kami and Karavan, war will happen like it or not. I guess.

Which I personally think is a good thing. If the factions just suddenly dropped everything because the homins don't want the war to happen, it would be very unrealistic.

If the majority really doesn't want war, take in-character action to prevent it. Don't just whinge out-of-character.

There is a difference though, the neutral side doesn't seem to be wired into the game options/code at present and the leaders are acting out of character and no responding - particularly (there have been minor exceptions) to what homin do.

Glad to hear it, I hope other people don't miss it because it has been discussed a lot.
You don't have to join in the PvP, but if you want access to the unique stuff at Outposts, you will probably have to use some diplomacy. There are open avenues for both paths here. We'll be very interested in seeing comments on this, once it goes into open testing on the ATS.
Eh, I think I'll be just as interested in seeing what that means on the Test server. I know the instinct for most people who've been around the block with other MMO companies is to read as a violation of the first part, but I'll trust differently now.
I say again: We're not turning this into a PvP-only game. These are all valid questions, but it may be that we can't answer them until we get actual player feedback on how phase 1 of the Outposts work.
Good to hear that. It would help a lot I think to have a write-up on how Outposts are currently invisioned to work from start to finish. Right now we just have a write-up dealing solely with PvP and a hodge-podge of tidbits leaving people with a bad picture. The only time we seem to hear about old Outpost ideas (i.e. Tribes holding Outposts and giving guild missions for them, or the take by force vs take by diplomacy option) is when we're told that isn't going to happen anymore. So people assume these are the case about everything simply because of a lack of communication in the area.
We try to compensate for that by communicating more with the players, listening to what they say and incorporating feedback when and where we can. We think that works better than just promising the sun, moon and stars or not communicating at all.
It does, I think it does a lot. A full fledged two-way communication is great for player assurance in my opinion, builds customer confidence, and if publicized well can attract new customers which Ryzom needs.

and in any case, thanks for the awesome responses to everyone here and I hope Nevrax keeps it up.

Just a short comment: I think that means, if you don“t want to have anything to do with PvP but want acces to the unique stuff at outposts anyway, you will have to know someone who is in controll of an outpost and shares its stuff with you.
