I managed to 'obtain' an invite to that meeting. I'm not sure who it belonged to originally as I grabbed it from Pyr post office in a bit of a hurry ;) Maybe it was yours, who knows? Maybe it was even mine, wouldn't that be amusing! The fact of the matter is that I was there, I heard everything and I'm willing to share the information, just like the Guild of Elias asked.

Of course, there are my travel fees, loss of earnings, wear of armour as I gesture wildly to accompany my tale. So sadly I must ask for 'donations' to fund my lecture circuit.

If you want the details of the secret meeting, it's gonna cost you. Lots.

OOC:
Raynes, in every post of yours you don't sound happy. I think you've done the right thing in leaving. This is a game after all and if you aren't enjoying it then there's no point playing.

I'm still really enjoying myself, there's no other game I'd rather be playing now. I'm looking forward to what the future may bring and am happy to wait until outposts, rites etc. are ready.

I think this recent event was a bold move for Nevrax and I'm glad they're doing things a bit differently than previously. This gives us something to talk about. Any war that is going to happen won't be black and white. The meeting and what was said could be interpreted in a few ways and this method of spreading the news will further blur the meaning. I actually felt I was being treated like an adult in this event instead of "escort X from A to B, kill Y at C" (which I also enjoy incidently :) )

Had I not been at the meeting I would have had to find out the details afterwards. This would probably have involved some detective work, talking to various people to remove the opinions from the facts and maybe a bit of bargaining ;) Already, Spriteh, an influential (and resourceful) person has got the details from this secret meeting.

The RP of this event wouldn't have worked if everyone was invited. Maybe there will be other meetings I'm not invited to (or maybe there have been already!) So be it, if someone else gets to play messenger then I don't mind. Everyone is involved in this one way or another.

Anyone who hasn't quit Ryzom over this, come and speak to me ingame, with dapper (what you thought that was only roleplay?) and I'll fill you in.

Get a grip Raynes.

Think that Jyudas and Kostika have pretty much already voiced everything that I would have written, so no point rehashing.

All I can say is, if you consider this an "event", boy do you need help.

I wasn't OL at the time it occurred, and personally don't really give a toss - the information has been spread, as the devs/CSRs/whoever intended it to. Perhaps the fact that people like you are quitting the game over the way the meeting was held is good news for the rest of us. This is meant to be an MMORPG after all - if you can't hack (or even ignore!) the relatively minor elements of RP that occurred, you don't belong here anyway.

I am not going to say much here because I will end up insulting those who insulted others. I think it wrong that so many have insulted you Raynes. You are after all leaving and that is a horrible farewell. I wish you the best, I hear WoW is nice...
As for the secret meeting, I have nothing to say because I really do not want to be flamed.

WEll, good bye again, Raynes. It is a shame that you are leaving but then that is your choice. You have not been very happy for quite awhile and so maybe it is time for you to go.

I have respected some of your opinions not all but a few. You seemed to have tunnel vision most of the time, but that is your option.

I hate to see anyone leave the game, but if it isn't fun and you don't show up for most of the events, and seem to find everything wrong no matter what anyone tries to do. Then it is time to move on.

I wish you well and hope you find happiness some where out there.

I on the other hand love Ryzom, and as you say we may be disappointed in the end, but it will not matter I will enjoy this game for as long as I have the honor to be here. If it goes 8 years, if it goes 8 months, if it goes 8 weeks at least I will enjoy what time I have in it.

Smile Raynes, and enjoy life a bit.

Raynes although I do disagree with your reasons for leaving.

I am going to miss seeing you around. We never met ingame unfortunatly.

I have disagreed with many of your posts in the past, including this one but I am going to miss having you around because you are such a good RP'er for the Kami. We need more hard liners I think, you have read the lore and understand the karavan and kami and their followers are supposed to be at each others throats a lot more than they are.

Don't get me wrong, I won't miss some of your less nice posts, but I will miss that :)

Being somewhat of an old curmudgeon I have agreed with several of your posts in the past. I had quit posting concerning some the things you said because of how people have reacted when you have pointed out the failings of Nevrax. To a certain extent I can understand such people because they want Ryzom to be what the devs keep promising. However, I hate the thought that such people and Nevrax's ridiculous behaviour have driven you from a game I know you love.

I wish you well in whatever you do in the future. Perhaps we will meet in the alpha/beta or even retail of Dungeons & Dragons Online. Many of us believe this will be the game Ryzom had wanted to be.

grimjim wrote:And what makes me angry? Not that they had an 'exclusive' event but that two people who have a massive amount of respect in the game and who I regarded as good roleplayers have disappointed me by acting like petulant children, throwing their toys out the pram, taking their ball and going home.
I get the feeling that you are thinking of me as one of them, if not just ignore the rest and skip to next post, m'kay?

Yes, I was invited to the event. No idea why, since I am in a solo guild (see elsewhere for why). But looking forward to it a lot.
Anyway, from the mail my impression was to go to a meeting point and then travel to a secluded place to hear more.
I might have arrived a bit late (1 minute past the meeting time on my clock), but the 1st part of the meeting was in progress, when suddenly I am teleported away.
My first thought was literary "what the ****", I don't remember haveing any ingame support tickets in queue, so nothing to do but wait and see what is happening.
As you already know this was the 'travel' part. Not as it has always been, haveing the players teaming up and makeing their way to a location. It was refreshing to see that other means were available.
But it also had a drawback (for me at least), do you remember this event?
Someone was held against their will for the "glory" of science. Now a neutral guild teleport me around against my will.
Of course what happend to Bai Jimao was a lot worse, but it goes against what my character is all about (freedom and nature basically).
As a side note, CSR always asks if you are ready to be moved around if you are stuck, I find it odd that they didn't remember to do that here (some are prone to crashes during tp).

So I have to do a lot of thinking, both me the player and character wants to be there, others want me to be there. Still the teleporting in very unsettleing.
What it comes down to is "a neutral guild using unknown means transported you to a unknown location, without asking or warning", which left my character with only one choice. To teleport away.

I will now tell you exactly why I had to stop playing before I planned to.
That minor incident left me in tears, yes I am grown enough to admit to be crying.
If a minor thing like that can have such a huge impact on someone, you know it is time for a break. Clearly some time off is for the better.

Now back to the thread in progress.
