Not sure if you remember the 'old days' of Self-magic.

In those wonderful days we could cast heal HP self, heal SAP self, heal STAM self and you actually leveled in that skill.

It was great and you could have fun soloing.


The someone came up with the idea that if you attacked a mob and let it hit you, you could cast heal, then kill them mob. This gave you XP in self heal magic and fight/off magic.

Through various changes.... it was still possible to be indistructable.

As you reduce the solo downtime, you effectively reduce the need for the healer skill. Eventually the def-magic tree will go the same way as the Self-heal tree. It will be removed.

So what next ...

Eventually if you extend this to make a point. I start the game with an 'I win button' which when pressed gives you all the things you desire.

I'm in a very fluffy, friendly mood today cause its Friday :D :D and this is an honest question not a dig ;)

why should it be possible to kill every non-boss mob solo? have u seen the size of some of them! and maybe size doesnt matter cause some of the little ones dont half pack a punch -) It seams reasonable that some mobs require more than one homin to take down, to make everything killable by one person would take a lot of the challenge out of things..

I still feel that increased regen rates in tribes u have good fame with is a way to improve life for solo players without nerfing team play.

solo downtime is way too long tho now so they need to change it obviously -.-

it seems everything goes from 1 extreme to the next in this game "that needs nerfing so well make it really useless" not "lets just tone it down a bit" :)

the game needs alot of rebalancing to say the least :) i managed to get a healer today only by using elemental because he said melee chars cant kill fast enough so the exp isnt any good..... next will come the magic nerf ;) i doubt they will ever lower the credits for melee instead to make them a bit stronger

there are a hundred other games on the market at this time where you can solo or lvl in a team and they manage to get the balance right so why should SoR be any different?

i heard mention of consumable potions but they are very slow coming... making them craftable also would be a very nice addition to the crafting system and the economy :) and the world of solo lvlers :)

Atm I'm lev +200 heal +200 harvest +150 craft. Fight is just pathetic, ~150. Ele is also pathetic, ~130. Affs are under 100. So if I die, my char gets a huge dp. And I mind having dp.
Unfortunatelly I cannot avoid dp because of game system. If I want xp around 1000-1300 / mob, I have to target mobs that can easily kill me if my ele fails 2-3 times or if they land 2 crits.
I don't want to cheat - aka kill shalahs in FF (I know you know what I'm talking about) and I also don't want to sit down 10 mins to regen sap / HP. Is not my ideea of fun, and I guess isn't yours too. Even the mobs who give me ~500 xp are launching blows that hurts. And I'm back to ground zero, sitting and regenning.

No, I don't want to have "red bottles" on Atys.
They can make them any colour.
Some green ones - for sap - will be fine.
Or magenta for stamina.
And blue for focus.
The HP ones can be white. (j/k)

Like I said before. They can cut the regcharge time a bit - not much. Let's say... 'self heal 10' needs 400 seconds to recharge. 300 or 250 looks way better to me.
Or make a stanza to recharge power auras.
Or increase the cap for xp. (No more "killing this was too easy")

Or give me the blueprints for a battle_robot to tank for me. *grin*
... or remove the leveling system completelly and give levels based on game age. Each week spend in game -> 1 level. *chuckles*

Diggin, man.... look at what you said. WHY DO WE WANT SOR TO BE LIKE ALL THE OTHER GAMES? We want it to be different. We want to get away from the monotany of those games, that we've all played over and over.

What makes this game great, is the fact that its different. It has so much potential because of this.... DON'T TRY TO TAKE THAT AWAY. :)

If I want to level to a bajillion solo, and do it in 5 min... I"ll go to another game. Not ruin this one. :)

sure, but in Ryzom you can solo. :) Its just a different style, and strategy.

It also is the princilpe behind what I'm saying. If we (the players) demand that this change, and that... because it's hard.... and Neverax acts upon that, then eventually we will end up like Diablo... where the game has lost all insight, challenge, and in my opinion value. Where cheats, bots, dupes, and all that crap take over the game so nothing is fun anymore.

Ryzom is genuine, because its different. Yes its solo fighting is much different than other games, and IMHO this feature stregnthens Ryzom. It makes it better than other MMO's.

Yes, soloing is hard... but so is jewel crafting. Should i complain to Nexerax about how hard it is for me to level my jewels to a point that people will buy them so I can earn money? No! I can shut my mouth, dig some seeds and amber and get goin. Or try something else.

have you tried to solo a skill over 200? that isnt harvesting or crafting?

currently have ele over 200... and I hunt 3star purple najabs in the void

kill 2, sit down for a few.... 3k. Or I got to FF and do timmys, that give 1500 or so, not near as dangerous as the jabs.... can kill 3 before i need to sit, but there are lots of ppl in FF and they are good at tossing heals every once in a while.

someone chucking you a heal shouldnt be needed you should be able to solo without as much downtime. i think your missing the name of the topic
