Re: OK Devs & Fellow Players, I'm here for 14 days, talk to me

I cant comment about the game as an experienced player of this mmorpg but I'm pretty expereinced in general with mmorpgs, I played one which shall remained un-named for on and off 4 years maybe a bit more and lot of others at the same time.
You think you got burnt with swg you should have played the one I did lol, but to be fair anyone who'd played mmorpgs could see wwg attracting the wrong sort of player if your looking for a good community, I mean star wars is synonymous with the words "cynical" and "cash in".
It took me about 20 minutes of logging in to mattis new player isle to know the game is certainly worth paying for based soley upon the community alone, based almost soley upon the aformentioned sophy Only later did I meet other such nice people well... hell frankly everyone I met has been lovely and I hear it's not just on matis isle. But Valeriana as well
Usually in mmorpgs new player areas are festooned with the worst scum of the game looking for attention yet its completely the opposite here, I haven't been to the mainland yet (I cant leave them I love them all so much ) but its fair to say that the impression from the new player isle (I hate the other n word) is that the game is unique in its style (for a mmorpg anyway) and certainly has the best community ive seen in any mmorpg for a long time.
Which to be fair I think WoW has helped, it sucked away all the kinds of players I hate from all mmorpgs, but sadly a great source of revenue to the mmorpg community in general. However my mystic powers see wow having a good lifespan but its community base dropping rapidly after say a year. When a game is heavily Pvp based you just cant update it enough to keep people happy.
Graphically alone also this game is in a leage of its own and my system (although pants has not that much trouble running it) but would benefit from the ungrade to 1gig ram then the game should run fine and dandy.
If you log onto mattis island at least I can vouch you'l probably want to stick around for a while at least in a few seconds I had people offering me crafted items, advice on how to get started and the correct time to leave etc and without any need to do so because they wanted to feel all big or good about themselves but a genuine enjoyment of helping other people.
Personally I am reccomending it to my friends both in real life and on my home forums and I hope other new players will follow suit, I came in from the PCF magazine demo (although the magazine did have the client it lacked any real info on your game which was a real shame as I almost didnt try it ) as i've been stuck on a modem for many months now lol.
The only slight gripe I have is with the initial poster, I know your all you know "jaded" after 18 months of poo on swg but don't give new players a bad name. I mean you storm on their forums and pretentiously demand the developers and community justify their entire existence just for you. Take 10 minutes to log in the game right and see what its like before you get all I'm god you all have to beg me to play here. I mean im one self important egotistical monster (according to many) and even I didnt do that...
Oh and asking on a forum about a mmorpg community is usually the worst way to find it out, I find in general forums bring out the worst in people while ingame can be a different story, failing that reading over the forums will always give you a better clue as to the quality of its community.
EDIT: ah and ive yet to hear any "leet" speak (cant vouch for the mainland) that was possibly the most unexpected and welcome suprise any decent human being can get. Apark from the olsen twins and some honey...
