I realise it's rather an extreme example (I can but live in hope) but this is the kind of passion proper RP should stimulate. Well, maybe not quite that strong but you get the idea.
Can't stand football.

Not everyone (in fact I'd say a minority of people) plays someone fanatically loyal to either side. Its a valid RP standpoint but a bit 2 dimensional all things considered. The individual circumstances do come into it.

In the event with the Tryton spies, for example, if the Kami had been the ones ordering their execution I would have, personally, sided with the Karavan to protect them, as it was all a bit fishy.

It really depends on the circumstance.

A better football example would be the way different British teams end up getting support from the whole country once they're the only ones left in a championship.

yup, it would be a bit scary if everyone was a fanatic! rushin spent a long time as a supporter not a fanatic, taking time to understand the Kami, and spend time in matis and tryker seeing the other side of the coin. Now she has found some friends and they have small but fiercely protective guild, or more of a relegious order. No matis, no tryker, a very few select fyros and all with a deep devotion to serve Ma-Duk :)

Wouldnt consider it 2D really, it takes a lot more effort to play this way rather than being friends with all and gives us a chance to explore a side of our characters that we wouldn't if we were more umm accommodating :p It's been month's since i was teamed with a pale skinned heretic and we have some nasty surprises planned for the followers of Jena in the coming months :-)

You are a member of a Kami sect. I admire the fact you would tell your guild you would have supported Kara. Despite the fact that inclusion in the GA was originally determined for Kami only supporters. I can only assume this has been accepted by your guild leader & voted on by the general GA council. Eithr you are rebelling against the Alliance or your Guild is. Which is it.

It never came up, I was giving you an example. If it had, it would have been dealt with one way or the other I am sure.

However, it serves as an example that not everything is black and white on terms of 'sect' only.

Right now we have religious wars. There are however such things as political, racial, and civil wars.

Svayvti is an extreme Kami supporter... in the former of a missionary though and not a suicide bomber.

He also considers himself to have good relations with the Matis through Prince Yrkanis and the Hamazans.

You have been around a long time my friend and you know that I am also a proud Matisian and consider you a traitor to our race :P

If you follow our great King Yrkanis, you are fully aware of the support that he/we have for Jena and her representatives, the Karavan. You have a conflict, and though I may not be the best one to help you find Jena, I do serve her. Until you follow the true path of the Karavan, you are NOT serving our great King, nor our race.

Looking at your example DT. So if I live in a Christian country and I believe in Buda, this makes me a traitor? Or a heretic? Should I be burned on the stake?

it is bordering on the lines of RL and game though dependent on how far you take the game in a rl instancy.
Saying someone can not be somewhere because the believe or are from another culture would be racist but this is a game so depends if each person same ethics apply at this level

Except that in this case it's the Christians (=Karavan) who are planning to wipe out Buddha (=Kami). So does that still make him wrong?
