ahhh...

In every MMO forum there is always *that* thread.

You know...the one that never dies...

Sure, it no longer has anything to do with the topic, it simply survives on posts relating to it's survival.

I here by change the the topic from "Do we really need PvP" to
"Do we really need an endless thread"

Long may it live.

I'm coming round to seeing that PvP does in fact have a place in this game as long as its used wisley.

jyd, As an ardent roleplayer instead of fire and brimstone against PvP'ers why dont you get together with your most excellent guild, who in the past have organised brilliant events and make PvP part of RP. Show people that PvP isnt all about ganking and so on.

alright some players will always follow the path of settling disputes by ganking etc etc, some will always be bored and decide that if they are gonna leave the game soon they may as well make it "interesting".

currently there is no DP in PvP, there is also a strict skill/lvl heirarchy that means the higher level nuker will pretty much always win. as someone said earlier though the good PvP is when groups of people get involved. I'd add to that and say groups of people with a purpose in mind.

PvP as a way of achieving a goal I would take part in, and as you have said most of the game is now player led. Dont shoot down PvP, use it as a tool to organise cool events like you lot have done in the past. I personally wouldnt want to wait for GM driven adventures as they dont seem to be on the horizon.

I started off trying to explain the drawbacks and problems with it, but you run up against this brick wall and even a saint would get frustrated eventually.

I'm no saint.

Outside of our duelling events I don't know that PvP based events fit our Guild's RP premise particularly, besides, Kos is the boss. As mercs we tend to work for cash and personal ethics rather than faction. Organising a PvP/FvF event would run counter to a lot of that.

How does that go with your membership of the GA considering its Kami relationship?

All Tryker are at least nominally Karavan by lore - but are more neutral than the Matis.

All Fyros are at least nominally Kami by lore - but are more neutral than the Zorai.

Kami or Karavan alignment needed be a simple on/off option.

Does that mean that the Samsara would not fight on the Kami side in FvF unless it was paid or do you just mean you?

Each member has their own stance, Kostika the leader is more pro-kami than I am. I think we'd probably weigh up each FvF event, but you'd have to ask the boss.

I don't think that is really going to be an option, unless changes are made to the way FvF is being planned.

In the FvF zones, sides are chosen by your fame. So, unless you can change you fame very quickly before every event, you are likely stuck with one or the other.
