Obviously, the large majority of those wouldn't be coming back. However, alot more people played the game over the years than what you get by estimating who was on Arispotle at the end.

If I undersatand you correctly, you are talking about how many unique members there are on the forums not the number on any given server. I would think that would include all servers, all people who played only beta versions, and people who played for only a shot time.

I think if there were aywhere close to 100,000 players, neither Nevrax nor GF would have been in dire financial straits.

I doubt that is the case jared - financial issues can arise from bad management just as much as lack of income; or any number of other factors. And, of course, more players means better machines are needed and more maintenance. I have no idea how many have played Zom over the years, but it could well be above that number.

There are two issues here:

a) The number being referenced does not indicate "players" on a particular server but forum users and these are two different things.

b) I still don't see the significance of how many people ever played the game (free and paid), the only issue of relevance is how many that were paying when GF (and Nevrax before them) went under.

People didn't leave because Nevrax / GF was in financial trouble, they left for reasons asociated with either their lives or the game itself.
