as of March 20th Xavier had still heard nothing from Spiderweb, unless he has posted something different on the French forum?

Well, maybe something is going on behind the scenes... Xavier might have been able to reach them with all the information provided here, but really... in the end it seems to be up to Spiderweb right now.

No, sadly, nothing new on my side. The attempts to contact Spiderweb gave nothing, they don't appear to be willing to discuss atm.

I love it when disinformation is debunked. Thanks Xavier :)

Well I don't like to quote Xavier since he's by definition an "unofficial" source of news, but since I've been cited I might as well clarify... For some reason Xavier has posted some substantially different news items on the French and English sections of the VCA forums from time to time. An example is the one Lewy is referring to : http://www.virtualcitizenship.org/forum ... widow#6482

This roughly translates (roughly as in all the important facts are there and it has been 'translated' into more comfortable English as well) as:
Xavier wrote:As in the dec 06 offer, the company is SpiderWeb International Limited [address here]. The offer also mentioned that the company that will be developing [*] the game is "Black Widow".

I can't give any more details without making unproven accusations, but myself (and others) believe that it is a company controlled by people who were close to the game
Now it should also be said that Xavier is only referring to the offer from last year and things may well have changed since then.

[*] This is an example of translating it into more comfortable English. The French says that they will be "recovering" the game, but what it means is developing[/size]

Not so. The exact translation is "take over," and récupérer is in no way related to programming (except in the sense of data recovery, but that is definitely not the context here), nor does it convey a notion of expansion or development.

True, but the implication of "taking over" the game implies that they will be the "developers" in common terminology. Whether or not they will actually do anything with it is of course completely seperate.

I previously emailed Xavier to check my interpretation of his post and as far as I remember, he said that it may not even be the case this time around, but it was his understanding that Black Widow would have been the new "devs" if SpiderWeb had won last time around.

(Xavier if you read this and either remember better or have a copy of the email, please feel free to email me again to correct me ;) )

Ah, let's just wait. Last thing we need is 200 homins fetching their dictionaries to elaborate on the etymological origin of seemingly meaningful words in the latest edition of the Atys Gazette, whose articles are mostly dated and often speculative in nature.

It is as Acridiel said: I'd rather hear from the Master Kitin.

My thoughts exactly, and why I don't normally participate in rumour-mongering
