Good idea, Dalwin. Morgan73 - please put my in game name on your ignore list. That's S-O-M-A. Thank you.daleknd wrote:If you are so repulsed by the very idea that I might speak to you then do us both a favor and put me on your ignore list before I even attempt to speak to you.

Re: Patch Notes for Nov 17th released.
Considering the fact that neither of your posts were even *relative* to the topic at hand, im not even entirely sure why you're posting here, other than to be a troll, and post whore, Soma.
And as far as the ignore list, I'd be happy to, *if* it actually functioned correctly beyond 1 day, and also if there was a *global* option to ignore tells completely. If nobody could send anyone a tell they didn't want, then I doubt *any* crafters would have issue with this recent development. But.. we can't. We have to know the name of every person who figures an absolute stranger won't mind an extra message out of the blue asking them everything and anything under the sun, reguardless of if we want that message or not. And amazingly enough, "Don't send me a tell, I'm (busy, don't want to talk, not going to make you crap because you asked me, etc etc)" isn't a resposnse that most seem to understand, because that generally results in either a response of "well arent you just the jerk", or the odd misconception that because one doesn't like being cluttered with tells they don't like people.
Give me a break. Apparently to you, and those like you, it's ok to bug someone out of the blue.. yet it's not ok for the bugee to be bothered by it. Interesting, I was raised under the concept that bothering other people, especially those I DON'T KNOW, is RUDE.

Re: Patch Notes for Nov 17th released.
Oddly enough there are games that are played online that involve contact with other people. There are also single player games where one can never be bothered by another soul. I do think there is a fair amount of rudeness in this thread. I'll leave it to others to decide where they think it is.morgan73 wrote:Considering the fact that neither of your posts were even *relative* to the topic at hand, im not even entirely sure why you're posting here, other than to be a troll, and post whore, Soma.

Re: Patch Notes for Nov 17th released.
Soma is actually a pretty nice person. I know these posts don't reflect her true nature. She certainly wouldn't have sent an unsolicited email or tells. She hates spam above all else.
She is certainly not deserving of the names you have branded upon her. Maybe she was simply commenting on the ugliness this thread has turned into. I'll admit her comments weren't constructive and too blunt. Untactful even. If you knew Soma you'd agree with me that she's not a troll.
I'm sorry you are not happy with the new feature. Some wanted it and some are happy with it. Ideally it should be an option. I would like the option as well so if people saw my name on something they would know it was decent stuff as oppossed to something I was just grinded and tossed up there *cheap* in case someone found value in it when I did not.
We seem so quick to anger these days. So eager to post and be negative. Have our feeling for the game and for our fellow players turned so ugly that we can't see beyond our own pettiness?
Agree to disagree. I'll ask Soma to keep the troll under the bridge.

Ha ha. I like that.
Entitled to your own opinion as is she. It just seems like there are more important things to worry about in the state of the game than whether or not someone might send you an unsolicited tell.
Then again I enjoy talking to people and do a lot of it.

Re: Patch Notes for Nov 17th released.
Just like in life, some people prefer to limit who they have contact with in game. Some people prefer to have their circle of friends and are completely content with it. Some people are shy, had a bad day at work, sick, tired, in the middle of a huge arse fight where they could easily wipe if something goes wrong, and NOT want to have random people sending them a tell thinking they are entitled to this complete strangers time, just because their name was on a peice of gear they managed to aquire(whether buying from a vendor, or a hand me down).daleknd wrote:Oddly enough there are games that are played online that involve contact with other people. People are not required to like dealing with other people. They are playing this game for enjoyment. And having random people sending them tells asking to have gear made, when they only planned taking custom orders for their guild and are just putting things up on the vendors for the possibility of extra cash, is by no means enjoyable to them. By having the choice to NOT put their names on their crafts, they will be able to enjoy the game as before. By NOT having this choice, they are now forced to choose between either a)extra profits from vendor sales to players, but have requests from random people for gear (and some of them have no concept of 'No means no'), or b) sell without the resale value for lower profits. Most people who have issue with this are choosing option b, for the simple fact, they do not want their gameplay disrupted by a complete stranger.
Just remember, not everyone is like you, look at it from the perspective from someone who just had a crappy day at work, had to work 3 hours overtime, had their kid just make a huge mess in the kitchen, cleaned that up, did the dishes, just put the kid to bed, and finally logging on for that 1 hour of enjoyment and relaxation with their friends online before heading to bed before a 12-hour work day when they wake up 6 hours from now. Would you like to get tells from complete strangers asking for stuff?

As most people here, I have also been playing online games for a number of years. Tells with questions or asking for stuff or even beggers near the respawn points are part of the reality of such games. This is why they all inlcude an ignore option.
People ripping others off is also a reality of online games. Without knowing who makes stuff it is hard to distinguish overpriced crap from reasonable goods at a reasonable price. Many of us just want to be able to buy from the same person again or know how to avoid goods on the vendor from certain individuals.
This idea of having the maker's name on things has been a topic of discussion in a number of threads for weeks. I do not once recall anyone raising the privacy issue at the time.
To not want unsolicited tells is understandable. To complain on a public forum and then call someone rude or childish because they don't agree with your point seems a bit ironic.
By the way, feel free to send me a tell anytime even if it is just to tell me what an idiot you think I am. The debate will keep me entertained while foraging for mats that no one really wants in a game with a stifled economy that seems in danger of dying out from low population.

>>The ignore option lasts for one game session at best currently in SoR, and to have a way for beggers to even more easily single out people with a high craft skill/level so they can beg from is in no ones best interest (beyond the beggars).

>>That is why you look at the stats, take note of the grade (basic/fine/choice/excellent/supreme) and the suffix (of protection/elemental cast speed/damage/sap load/etc). All those are easily accessable, and comparable to other items by right clicking on them. And if worst comes to worst, ask around. I can tell you right now the max damage for any 2h weapon is (q*2)+52. So the best damage a q50 pike can have is 152, the best a q100 can have is 252. All weapons and armor follow this along their own scale. Whether it be LA/HA/MA/1h/daggers/2h.

>>Childish, not completely called for, some people are not taking this very well (and this is nothing compared to how the people reacted over patch 1). Rude, no one called anyone rude. Just that going up and asking a complete stranger, who could be in the middle of something, is considered rude. Which in all honesty, it is. Completely inconsiderate to what the other persons situation and circumstances are.
