A question to all of those complaining about combat...
Re: A question to all of those complaining about combat...
Yes, I grouped tonight and even was getting kills for 3k xp, which I then tried to avoid as to not wear out my armor. The fact of the matter is many people liked to solo and Ryzom was a unique and interesting world to do that in, so if they can't do that now, then they should leave. I have to force myself to group, yes I have fun, but sometimes I like to just go "hey I'm going to go takeout that peaceful tribe over there because I feel like it". This is generally frowned upon by groupers. I am relearning how to play Ryzom and I still don't know if I'm going to stay. if I wanted to play a game that forced grouping I'd play FF XI, EQ, etc etc...

Get into a group fighting mobs lower level than whatever you're attempting. My guild has been leveling our affliction casters since patch 1. We get 1k / mob at a nice fast rate.In any regard, none of the posters in this thread or any other thread have been able to show me how I am supposed to stop being resisted by enemies in a team so I can gain offensive magic xp o.o
After a lot of testing with mobs the same levels as my magic skills, I found most spells landed on mobs of the same level as the skill I was using.

Different issue, different reply. I by no means like the new system. In fact I signed the petition and wrote a brief line stating I think blind and resist levels should have been the only things adjusted.
BUT ... you play with it, eat a few deaths, and can learn to get fast exp again grouping, using any skill, or solo at a decent rate using fight.
All things considered, this game is still easier to group and solo in than the big daddy MMORPG, Everquest. Everquest players don't get so hugely up-in-arms about it being impossible for most classes to solo, nor about having to fight a narrow level range of mobs in groups. If not for our free ride, honest to God, this uproar wouldn't exist. It's basic human psychology.
Of course, the deed HAS been done, and we can't undo the fact that we were raised on easy leveling and exploring. It's hugely disappointing that this is the case, I agree. But I have to be honest with myself and admit it's only difficult to deal with because I started playing under a different precedent.

I'm ignoring your point for two reasons:svayvti wrote:That would be completely ignoring any point I made, but thanks for showing you have no real argument to make against my point.
The patch is a bad business decision. It matters not if YOU can get exp when the game is losing 75% or more of its subscribers
1) This thread isn't about Nevrax and business decesions. It's about the fact that people say that combat is completely messed up. It's my attempt to demonstrate that I beleive it isn't. I posted real examples of where I got xp, how much, and by killing what. In otherwords I made an arguement, I gave my reasons, and I supported those reasons with facts. Now the idea is for you (or anyone) to argue the opposite point. Nothing you have said so far even comes close to that. If you can't do that, then you have no real arguement and shouldn't even bother responding.
2) You can not prove that the game is loosing 75% or more of it's subscribers. That is a figure you made up. There is no way you can know exactly how many people have left the game or how many are staying.
So again I won't ignore your points if you actually take the time to present on topic responces filled with your opinions based upon facts. You have yet to do that.
