EDIT: Actually, forget this reply. I don't want to risk the thread turning into a Ryzom versus WoW/EQ2 war. I don't agree this game was a temporary port in the storm for many of its players, but we can agree to disagree there.

My sub is up in 3 days.

At this point I wil be cancelling also.

All the reasons were outlined above, I won't rehash it.

If I see anything promising from an official source about this fubar situation before my sub runs out, I will re-up for the next month to see what they will do. If it goes unrequited, I will just continue with my cancellation and uninstall, though I seriously doubt I will come back x number of months down the line or watch the sites on this game. Done is done this time. I can cut my losses at this point and move on, though I will miss what this game could have become.

And no, not going to EQ2 or WoW. No interest there. I'll be in Horizons, and as stated above, you know its bad when people leave you for Horizons.

Im jumping aboard the 1 week boat as well.

I ended up with over 250k DP's last night before i logged out and thats not including all the Dp's i worked off before i called it a night.

Logging in to work off DP's knowing you wont be able to gain any levels isnt much motivation to log in if you ask me...

I had so much hope for Ryzom after playing horizons through beta and watching it fall appart. Ryzom is one of the most unique stories i have seen in any MMO in a long time with such great potential. It's a shame the credibility of the developers is shot with the first of their highly anticipated "Patch 1"

If this is no longer a game where I can do that, I won't hold any hard feelings against the developers or the players who enjoy the current incarnation- I'll just take my money to a game that better fulfills my desires.

Really, it all comes down to buying a product. Most of us who've played MMOs for any length of time begin games with a general idea of what we do and do not like. I've been following this game for approximately a year now, and I liked enough of what I've seen (though not all) to be happy paying for the service. Until patch 1. The product I was paying for and enjoying changed to something other than what I find enjoyable. From my experience with MMOs, I've realized that it's better to start looking for something that will satisfy me rather than spend money on something that doesn't in hopes that it will change.

Some people like oranges, some people don't. If you're a person who dislikes oranges and you pay for an apple only to get home and realize the clerk has switched it for an orange, you're not going to start liking oranges simply because you've paid for it. This is not so very different. The game I originally paid for was a game that I liked. It has since become something that I don't enjoy, so the rational thing to do is to go spend my money on a product that I will enjoy. Until that product comes along, I'll catch up on my reading. What I won't do is tell myself that the developers, in their infinite wisdom, know what I want better than I do, nor will I tell myself that I owe them time because they're just getting started. I owe them nothing. Despite that, I've already given them my attention, I've given them my time, and I've given them my money. Now I'm taking them back.

*Stands up and applauds wildly* Amen! You said it soooo much better than I could have.

This is an amazing statement. *applause*

So true. Sad that it may come down to this.

I'm patient, and willing to work with a game that is still in "Subscribed Beta" for a little while. That's fine. Nevrax is ultimately governed by common sense -- they realize that if the game is unplayable and unsatisfactory, they have to make changes and tweaks until it is or players will leave.

Patch 1 was/is overall a disappointing disaster, but there are many bright spots and positive enhancements. Ultimately, there was just too much drastic change to the game mechanics all at once. Fortunately, the company seems very sensitive to our reaction (re: "Oops, our bad" patch today). That's a good sign.

As long as yesterday was some comic relief and not really as hard as they ultimately want the game to be, then I'm willing to give Nevrax a sporting chance to find the balance.

We were all drawn to this game for *some* reason, and we're here expressing our opinions because we really want it to live up to the game it can be. It's innovate, beautiful, and, well refreshing from other things out there. I definitely wouldn't give up on any of that yet.

I'm giving it till my months subscription runs out. Thats around the 21-23 of Nov. If things don't go back to the way they were, at least in my being able to solo if I want, then I'm gone. I should not be forced to group if I don't want to! I was just getting to the point where I was able to leave the cities and explore a little and survive. Now I have a HUGE dp that I'll be working off for the next week! NOT my idea of fun!

At this point I am teetering and unsure whether to keep my account or not. Like the other person said, we didn't pay for oranges. I brought a game that I enjoyed playing despite some minor flaws that could be fixed. Instead I am now stuck with an unplayble game thats less enjoyable than going to the dentist.

Those of you saying that its ok now, that its better to group and its not as hard as people say. Try playing for more than a few hours. In fact, try to gain 10 levels if you can. You will find that to be extremely difficult, solo or in a group. Try doing anything else now. Being a tryker my forage spots were guarded by simple monsters half my level. I can't get anywhere near those spots now because these monsters simply kill me in 1-3 hits. Do I have to drag an entire group with me just to harvest for 5 hours to make ONE suit of armor?

No its not fun right now. If you think it is, you need to get your head examined.
