sidusar wrote:The logic is already figured out. :) It goes like this:
  • When you start to chose a recipe, you begin with 100%.
  • The first choice is between 7 options; one of those options leaves that number alone.
  • The other 6 options all take a number of % off. How much varies per option, could be 3%, could be 20%.
  • Which option does what is completely random, but the same every time for a given occupation and grade.
  • The second choice again has one option that leave the number alone and 6 options that take varying numbers of % off.
  • And so on for the third, fourth and fifth choice.
  • If the final result is less than 30%, it is rounded up to 30%.
So, let's say on the first choice, you pick the option that takes off 3%, on the second choice you pick the option that takes off 20%, and on the third, fourth and fifth choice you pick the options that leave the total alone. You then end up with a yield of 77%.
Here's the deduct numbers for Echelon 4....only ones I'm not sure at this point of choices 5 and 7, it's for Ech 4 SM is in Step No. 1, it's one of two numbers, I just don't know which is which.

-0.00 (0 x 3.33)
-6.67 (2 x 3.33)
-13.33 (4 x 3.33)
-20.00 (6 x 3.33)
-23.33 (7 x 3.33)
-26.67 (8 x 3.33)
-30.00 (9 x 3.33)

So bigga deal, what can ya use that knowledge for ?

Well what can ya figure from this ?

17634 = 87
17635 = 57

Since 30 is the max deduct, at least thru Ech 4, that 4 in step 5 is a guaranteed right number.

How about this ? 17334 = 77% ?

That would mean you have 4 of the 5 numbers right since no combination of 2 or more numbers adds up to -23

More math; it's a simple one for purposes of explanation but gives the general idea:

Friday
Player A --- 7 5 1 5 5 --- 87.00%

Thursday
Player B --- 7 5 5 5 3 --- 80.00%
Player A --- 7 5 5 5 5 --- 67.00%

Player A and B are working together to solve the riddle of Ech whatever; Player A who is working step 3 just tried the Friday recipe. He looks over the previous day's efforts and sends a PM to Player B, who is working step 5) giving him the 100% formula. Can you get the 100% recipe outta the above ?

Thurday's efforts showed that a 3 is +13% better than the 5 which if added to Friday's recipe ends the suspense.

Why merchants defeat the entire idea behind Occupations? Not sure I understood this statement.
I suppose not everyone want to do Occupations so why not giving a way for the people that don't want to do them just to buy the potions?

..... (snip)....
Gilga, you misunderstood again ^^
What I mean is that selling potions (and other occupation items) that are generated by the Game and not by players,
for very probably less then any player would demand for them, would not only reduce the value of crafted potions
but also defeat the need to put potions onto a merchant in the first place. And on extension the need to even produce them. - Why bother crafting, when I can buy them for a treat?
And I´m sure many would (again) think : "Why should I place my crafted stuff on the merchant, when there´s cheaper stuff at it already?"

Okay, that could be halted by the NPCs just selling "small and less powerful stuff", but then again nobody would produce small stuff anymore
and would probably tell any newbe asking for potions: "Go and buy them at the NPC.", which a new player could probably not accomplish for very long due to lack of funds ;)
And older-players not using the NPC because he doesn´t sell what they need.
So to cut out the middleman, back to player/player trading.

Of course players putting their self-crafted stuff up on merchants could very well demand just any price,
but sooner or later someone is bound to sell even cheaper (than the NPC) to help newcomers.

So, why put in Game-generated stuff in the first place?
In my opinion, IF there´s ever going to be a specialized "Potions Merchant", he should definitely not sell "stuff generated from nowhere",
but only player made stuff, as to maybe, just maybe, even help create a fair trade environment and a tiny bit of a normal economy. :)

Sorry, Acridiel.

When I speak about merchants, I only speak about selling player crafted potions doing Occupations, not npc stuff.

Likewise, tho a 250m setting on compass does help you find them (green dots) . ..... tho digging parties in same region will drive ya nuts :)

What's also diferent is how you deal w/ seasons. For example, having been told "Oh I don't get flowers there this season" and I went anyway (OK I'm like that, have to see for myself :) ) and found out why ..... but later in the same season the area that was filled w/ nasties now had puppies ....ok maybe a few nasties but not so many as to make it too difficult.
Cartographer is a bit more thin, but still a bit new in the just having to walk to a specific location, and in the running around inside the city. Not something I've had to do often.
Yeah thats how I feel w/ the poo / water chasing part of florist.

2xql150 select spots in the pillars and 1xql150 plain spot on a "appear/disapear cycle"

I have been told that the 180s have been found by "a friend of a friend", which I thought may have been you ...
jared96 wrote:Rik I'm just about done with Ech 4. I found the Egg Room a bit easier to master because, while dangerous the rules are fewer and consistent. I think I have enough improved certs to make it to Ech 5 but that's only a few days away. I'll be starting on the 180 mats which I have all located.....however the only other plain I have found is up in "Kipuka Central) between the pillars ...and I haven't been able to stay there long enough to see if it's 180.

... unless they are seasonal, I have never dug a 180 spot anywhere in the egg room.

I have been wondering/asking/questioning E6/G6 almost since the beginning:

E1/G1 - 50 Region/QL30 mats
E2/G2 - 100 Region/QL60 mats
E3/G3 - 150 Region/QL90 mats
E4/G4 - 200 Region/QL120 mats
E5/G5 - 250 Region/QL150 mats

E6/G6 - Which region?/QL180 mats (but haven't found the spots)

Edit - Also there are only 2 types of PR Plant in the ER (E4/G4 and E5/G5)

Best guess E6/G6 is "repeat E5/G5 ad-infinitum till we add Advance Occs", which means the majority won't be making G1-4 items as the mats are "hard" to obtain, they wont reach the solo players they are designed for.
