I like it!

Post by jcguid »

I did the open beta test for it and wasn't that impressed. After reading some reviews and some posts by players of the final release, I went ahead and bought the game 4 days ago. So far I love it. The graphics are outstanding (and if your a big geek like me and have lcd 3d shutter glasses they look even better)and I like the way you can level in different skill areas rather than being relegated to the class you choose from the onset.

My only complaint so far is that I miss the PvP action(I know about the duel and Arena). I also play DAoC and I really enjoy hitting the battleground with my realm mates to beat up on some other players from different realms.

As with any new game, content may be lacking in the beginning but I'm sure Nevrax will create new content to keep us interested. For the time being I am enjoying myself and plan to continue playing once my 'free' 30 trial is up.

I played the game and it sucks.... hey Im registered. I agree way too many fanbois on the boards.
Why are they fanbois? because the favorite words are "coming soon" "next patch" "just wait" "eventually" all words use by fanbois when they love a game so much.
Hey there are no public vendors??
Fanboi answer: Dont worry go out there and explore, pay Nevrax another $60 bucks and "eventually" in patch 3 or 4 you will get the vendors.
There are no quests?
Fanboi answer: We dont need quest, I like to play my mmporg as a big a$$ chatroom, talk to people, make friends.
The world is not big enough
Fanboi answer: WHo needs a vast world, enjoy the view, ah the beautiful butteflies make my pants all moisty.

Has there ever been a MMORPG that had everything in place when it shipped? Like I said before, I've been playing DAoC for about 2 years now and content is constantly being added (via expansions-both free and paid). Look at Everquest as another example. How many expansions has that game now had?

My point about Ryzom is that currently the game is fun as is. I'm sure after some time I will have seen/done most things that there are to do in it. At that point, I will want more areas/content/missions. As with any MMORPG, it grows in time. In my opinion the game currently has great content and gameplay. I'm also a novice programmer and have been looking at the NeL engine used to make this game (I even have a working copy of the library/tools used to make the game). Relatively speaking, content is an easy thing to add now that the system is in place.

So cool your jets and have just a bit of patience. Rome (or EQ or DAoC) wasn't built in a day.

Excellent point jcguid! And one that I have tried to make in the past concerning this game and others.

Adding content is not necessary a sign that a game was previously incomplete, but it is a sign of a game that is growing and evolving. Nothing to worry about there. No, it is when a MMORPG maker *stops* adding content that you have to worry, because then it is only a matter of time before the game dies.

LOL.

Funny, and my impression was WoW hadn't even shipped yet.

Are these the same unregistereds who were telling everyone how horrible Ryzom was without playing and trying to convince everyone to go play the dying AC? and the same one who considers anyone liking something other than AC or WoW to be a fanboi? You just don't give up, must suck when all the perfect games aren't on the market.

lol don't worry, the same people will be posting on every mmorpg that comes out because they are quite frankly never satisfied. They drift from one game to the next calling people fanbois just because they get extremely frustrated at not finding any real enjoyment in something that others do, or they see their friends leaving their favourite game and get extremely angry at the game for drawing people away. It's a kind of jealousy in a way. Why else waste time visiting a specific game forum just to tell those who enjoy it that they are just a bunch of fanbois.
It takes a certain mentality to carry off this kind of trolling!

It is one thing to have an opinion but when you start calling others names just to get that point across is just childish.
