i think Ryzom being fully dynamic (aparently) imediate actions should have imediate responses on how the story progresses, assasination attempts should be possible, attacks should be possible in certain areas, You cant hold an event in a pvp area and make an story driven individual unatackable, set a regen rate, make so many side stories going on that an event is actually exciting.
You state that concequences of actions will cause effects in the long run in the saga forums, thats just talk, actually script in actions that take place as the event unfolds, only then will the actions of players be recognised, unless you want to repeat the "tp off to far distant hill to meet Tryton event" where random people were forced to participate much to manys refusal and the majorities disapproval.
This event did not allow 'homins to 'choose a side' as advertised. there needs to be more coded options and paths, if you opened up the possibility, every path could be used in a single event with the winning path resulting in the outcome. there was no option here, and seeing reports of ash`s hp bar, there was no failure event planned ether.
still got a bad keyboard, ignore my missed letters
PvP during non faction related events
Re: PvP during non faction related events
To be honest I think making these events fully dynamic would be too great a task! Especially taking into account all possible outcomes and trying to encorporate them all together.
Also putting too much power/choice in the players hands is not allways a good in thing! Outposts is a good example of something that is governed almost entirely by players.
I think making players believe they have an impact is very important. But actually puting them in control will always lead to imbalance, prejudice, unfareness.

Re: PvP during non faction related events
Why does every single reference to Trykers *by players* mention slavery by Matis, when the Lore says it was Zoraï who did it, and the Zoraï who have sinned against the Trykers the most ( and get racial fame capped at zero)final60 wrote:......., Trykers could have taken the opportunity to get payback for their enslavement under the Matis! ........
Players who either dont know their lore, or are deliberately trying to rewrite it
sorry for O/T, but the Tryker/slavery thing irritates me
Re: PvP during non faction related events
To a certain extent all races have looked down apon the trykers.
Their lore has been ironed out since I last looked a long time ago, it used to be alot more vague.
They've been persecuted by just about all races!

It's vague for both races, I may have plucked my thinking of them out of thin air, but for years I've always thought of them as being under the matis control, from old lore writing perhaps? I'm probably wrong.TrykerLore wrote: - Matis: Despite past disputes and misunderstandings, the Matis now respect our freedom of thought and our right to build our society as we feel fit... What's more, to a certain extent the Matis owe us their freedom after the dictatorship of Jinovitch..
- Zoraï: The Zoraïs are not to be trusted, they openly breach Jena Law by venerating the Kamis...More recently, it was the Zoraïs who first installed slavery in the new lands.

Re: PvP during non faction related events
Thanks for posting that
Possibly due to some of the great Zoraï players I have met, I am reluctant to think evil of the race, yet their culture and history is just as intolerant and criminal as everyone elses.
Maybe there is scope for a Tryker vengeance group to start persecuting Zoraï at PvP RP events (dismal attempt to get back on topic

No problem, it's an interesting subject!

((Off main topic but on the current side-topic O_o))
Originally, both the Matis and Zorai enslaved the Trykers (possibly Fyros too, but I'm not 100% sure... if they ever did, the Trykers forgave them and were strong friends for a time in the distant past)
Then the slavery was abolished with the Homin Rights Act. After that, both the Matis and the Zorai have been controlled by "evil" (or just misunderstood?) rulers who reinstalted it until they were deposed. The Zorai were the most recent enslavers, and according to lore and game mechanics (fame), the Trykers hate the Zorai more than the Matis.

Re: PvP during non faction related events
Players confronted and chased away the target (who was only supposed to be studied) and angered Duke Rodi. A second event then occurred in which players had to catch the newly spooked homin, I believe... this was a while ago and my memory isn't the best.sidusar wrote:I understand a few players messed up and lost the event?
Anyway, it only shows that direct consequences were tied into events in the past. I'd love to see more of it today.
Hmm, making fun of their height again?final60 wrote:To a certain extent all races have looked down apon the trykers.
