I think you miss the entire point of scheduling an OP battle at an inconvenient time. Eventually you will crack and no longer give up more important RL stuff for the battles.... isn't asking for a break a sign that you will crack soon?

There were more defenders, but the attack force wasnt small. It was in a time when pre-Outpost friendships still counted :)

I do not think there is anything out of the ordinary in bringing up a desire/request/discussion on OP battles and times. The last 3 weeks have seen an extraordinary amount of battles and I am quite sure that there are more then a couple who do not want to spend their weekend Ryzom time in OP fights. I think that is a fairly reasonable request and certainly a valid thing to discuss.

The lack of a fluid, functional and purposeful 24/7 PvP alternative is causing some growing pains. If a character is based in Atysian lore there is no middle ground, Atys is just simply to small for followers of Jena and for followers of Ma-Duk. The friction that is caused by OP declarations have no other outlet but other additional declarations. There is no other outlet, that is what Spires were going to do, allow us to blow off some steam without rousing the entire server. But we, the community, told nevrax we did not want that, we wanted more PvE.

I do think that scheduling battles to intentionally fall within office hours for both sides of the pond is counter productive. I feel it is sending a clear signal that is very dismissive of the working player. However, if that is when the most guildies are on, that is the time a declaration should be made.

When I look at scheduling battle times, I choose a time that is the most convenient for AA. I could care less about the other side, I can not do anything about their schedules and I really do not care, that is why there is a 2 round system, to balance the two sides.

Right now would be a perfect time for another temple like event. If it is possible I think adding on to the existing temples or building new ones in the lands that lack them, would be very helpful in giving the players some help in forming more significant Kami and Karavan cultures.

Many of the homin who follow Ma-Duk are misled simply by the cute furry avatars they see (not realizing perhaps that the Karavan wear forbidding-looking suits to avoid contaminating Atys) and give no further thought to Ma-Duk's philosophy. If Nexus can keep their OP without effort for a while by asking for a break, why not? It's just like with recruiting, costs nothing to dress up evil designs in a cute outfit.

Of course, such a strategem on the Kami's part implies some level of intelligence, so it's certainly as likely they're playing it straight and honestly just do want a break.
Strength and power are not only measured by the level of the characters the players can field and the amount of time they can put into it. It is also measured by the ressourcefulness and willingness of the players to exploit any and all weaknesses of the opposite side. PvP in MMORPGs is not a sport, it is not a fair match, it is a battle that is fought with all you have and focused on your goal.
Ryzom is not Counterstrike.

Your allegations regarding Kami and Karavan mean nothing to me, as i said, i do not know Nexus, nor do i care to. I am merely writing these things because i see a group that seems to be prominent and strong PvP players slap the concept of the outposts and that which is PvP in MMORPGs into the face.
Outposts are meant to provide something that is battled about, something that often switches owners, not something that is to be locked into a static grid. If they accept fluidity and are not hurt by not having outposts for a few weeks or a month and are actually strong enough to take them back later on, then they should simply take the break they desire. However they should not try to lock these outposts by guilt-tripping other players, as that would mean to detract from the game-experience of others because they choose inaction.

(In retrospect though one could grant them the kudos for trying it though if that was the intention behind their post, combined with the backthought i just presented.)

Keiko, while a much loved member of Nexus, does not speak for our guild on this thread. This is her views after a conversation between her and a karavan person. Nexus will fight, and will continue to help the kami in every single OP battle that we can. Bring it on. The only thing in the recent kara attacks have shown their desperation and shock at realising that they maybe are not quite as awesome as their arrogance might suggest. I see these latest battles as a good thing, it shows we bloodied their noses a bit....Keep up the good work kami :)

I'm tired :)

some things that would work:

1) guilds owning op's get to set a 6hr period (in 24) when they cannot be attacked (ie sleep time). the attacking guild has the same grace period to choose for defense phase.

2) we only do op's at times that are weekend for everyone (as many as everyone as possible)

3) we try and choose times that are good for everyone.

4) we all steadily increase our consumption of stimulants ;-)

off to bed though :p

Really like that idea, both factions have times of the day they would rather not attend, for the EU kami wars past mid night are a total pain and for the US karavan having wars duing the working day means very few of you can make it.
Im not for calling off wars at all, but i do like that idea.

Very very much doubt it will ever happen but still a nice thought
