I had no problem with pumpkins or Ryzom until last night.. now I have a big problem for me, really I play a game to get rid of real life stuff (in the main) and like to play for escapism etc, and after playing ryzom tonight with I might add bloody Pumpkins!, where is the escapism.

News flash. Pumpkins and Holloween is escape from real life stuff. As such it fits into fantasy escapism world very well. I get that you don't like Halloween. But don't try and act like somebody is trying to force a dose of reality down your throat. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Pumpkins are out ... now waiting for the thread: "I want my pumpkin back!"

Its almost christmas and the moon still looks like a pumpkin, the planet still looks like a skull, and the yubos are still wearing their skeleton costumes :|

I started during the event and thought for sure that those yubos were supposed to look like that :P

aye for me I started in Ryzom during the event and I will find it most odd when Yubos look different, though I will not miss the bizarre moons. Why those didn't revert when the pumpkins went away I have no idea.

Not patching things due to the current circumstances is understandable certainly, but if they took the time to patch out pumpkins they should have finished pointing to the old textures.

Actually, thats the reason. They didn't need to patch out for the pumkins or kitin, as those were server-side.

Honestly, I hate events like this too.

Not because they're not fun, and not because I'm a realism nazi, but because I 'do' come into the game to escape the real world, and I don't like to be reminded on a consistant basis that Ryzom is a reflection of that world. I didn't mind the silly pumpkins for the first day or two, but when they started to linger on for a week or more they started to bug me... and the alterred sun and moon bother quite a bit.

Why not just give Atys its own tradition? Perhaps garb some of the NPCs in white robes and send them out into the woods to hang glowing lanterns or something, or perform some sombre rituals to honor the battle fallen... honestly choosing to just adopt halloween in game is lazy.

I understand its silly and its meant to be fun.

But it has -so much potential- to be something more, something creative and special that will involve the player base, rather than some cliche head bobbing excercise...

Would I quit because I hate cliche holiday events? %#*& No! I love Ryzom, and that love makes me blind to how silly the poor little painted yubos look and how much the moon annoys me late at night when I'm petting my pet Yubo skelly and staring off across Fairhaven's waters...

But for someone who is -really- anal about their roleplaying environment or came to Ryzom -deliberately- to get away from childish representations of real life holidays in game, and is taking the game -way- to seriously... I can imagine someone quitting... Even if I think it's silly to do so over a pumpkin...

The pumpkins beat you, dear... You were outmatched by a gourd.

:D Good one, but can we please leave this silly thread buried at last?

I don“t think we will be seeing any Christmastrees this year, so I just hope someone removes the rest of the "decoration" once the other, more important, issues are solved.

Thank you.
