Then after i got past level one and drew a circle nothing happened omg, i swear it was broke, so went on EBay and bought an official tic tac toe strategy guide, but the book didnt have pictures so that was a waste of $30

I deleted the tic tac toe board from my piece of paper after that using my pencil eraser after that, and never looked back until now. now I figured out you need two people to play. I`m level 60 tic tac toer now dude, gimme a buzz if you want a game.

Chiang the strong is not necessarily right in front of you. The first time I tried the new land, he wasn't there. Perhaps there is a bug where occassionally the new toon is turned around, so Chiang is actually standing behind them?

Just chiming in with my 2 cents in disagreeing with the OP. I just started the game too, (Well, actually, started again, tried the trial a year or so ago and now trying it with the 15 day reactivation thing.) and I think that this game has one of the better starting areas of the mmorpgs I've tried.

The first guy is standing right in front of you, and while the trainers can be a bit confusing to find, I can find them in a couple minutes of running around the camp. The first guy and the website seem to give quite a bit of information on the whole Kami vs Karavan thing and the different factions.

There are a bunch of level 11 to 20 birds mixed in with the yubos and whatnot in RoS, and those were most of what I saw for the first little bit of running around, but it doesn't take very much at all to notice the 2x star thingy, and only a little more effort to put the cursor over it long enough to get the box saying that they're level 11 to 20 mobs. And the Yubos are pretty close by.

And as everybody else has mentioned, there's no way you could have walked into the arena without knowing it, it gives you a series of big messages for at least 30 seconds before you are able to be attacked.

The starting quests are kind of "go collect this" "kill that" and whatnot, but each of the ones I've tried so far have had more of "learn what this skill does" feel to it too, which is just what a tutorial quest should be in my opinion.

I have no idea how you could play FFXI much and have difficulties with this game. My newbie experience here so far has been much better than what I remember about FFXI. *shrugs* But to each their own.

In order to get to the javings (they're over 200m from the starter camp btw...) you have to pass: Suckling Yubo, Timorous Yubo, Suckling Capryni, Tumorous Capyrni, and I believe suckling Bodoc...
This is false. He wasn't talking about javings, there are other birds right outside the gate by the karevan (sp?) respawn point. I also tried to fight this birds when I was just begining as a refugee and they bite hard. I died fast... I learned how to look at the cons because of those guys. Cons seem to have a large range of difficulty depending on your strategies.

Personally I like the challenge of not really knowing how hard a mob is going to be. The numbers and stars don't always mean something. Those birds for example (name starts with I and has a z...) are 2x and the javings are 1x. That javings are way harder then they are though from my experience. It took me quite a while to figure out a good way to kill javings without eating dirt.

Overall I really like the discovery aspect of the game. You have to actually figure out a lot of stuff on your own. This gives you a feeling of accomplishment once something clicks.

Ok, I just have to pop in here. First off, we mustnt be to hard on the player. He was confused. Also game is not for everyone. I am guessing he likes to be told what to do next and who to ask, and how to ask and what to do next and how to do it.

First off we don't have arrows or question marks or some other type thing saying go here. Now do this go do this. It does require a bit of thought and reading. I mean you actually have to look for them.

I am sure he would not of lasted 5 mins on the old starter island. I know I didn't in the very beginning. The yubos then looked at me and I died, I died just standing there. and there was nothing to tell you what to do. no idea what to do. Think it was go see welcomer.

here you see Chaing he tells you stuff, then the mission givers giv you get a bit of lore, they tell you how to make stanzas, they tell you oh so much that we did not get in the beginning if only when I started it was as easy as it is now.

I find Ryzom one of the easiest games. Also due to the great community it is the most fun and enjoyable games there is around. Just watch the chat. It is not hard to see. People asking questions, giving advice, comments made.
But then on the other hand if you ask like. HOW DO I PLAY THIS STUPID GAME. You will not get very far, if at all. If the support staff doesn't smack you then the players will. So sometimes it is how you ask or say. As I am sure you have learned from your initial post.

I have tried many MMORPG's, first off no one unless you know them talk to you, second You land in game and have no idea at all what to do and most people don't tell you. Most when I do log in, it is like ok, and the purpose is to do what.

So we should not jump on the player toooo much, ok, maybe a little but he kind of asked for it.

Take care and I am sure there is another game somewhere, complete with little arrow things and help every step of the way. (don't sound fun to me)

Now if I did play any other mmo with old friends, and they started talking of... Hey, let's check this game... looks great

Maybe then I would have jumped in the forums and claimed I had the worst time... or maybe not

thats one funny post. The devs dont need to fix the game, they need to patch the new players ;)
