It just seems that it's more a FvF rather than GvG deal, at least based on the way the whole thing is presented.
For example... if Covenant wanted to hold an outpost in the Matisian forests, we'd have to take on the whole Karavan Alliance to do it, as it seems, and of course suffer the bouts of "OMG OMG A matis attacked a matis OP... OMG OMG OMG".
That's the impression I'm left with, anyway.
You listen to too much of what certain folks post here and disregard the gameplay. If everyone claiming to be a part of the "KA" went neutral (like it seems the Kami are currently doing) we'd all be neutral and have similar divisions. It's the people, players, friends and allies opposing each other on the battlefield. Our guild (like every other guild in SoR) has allies, some factioned and others not... take away the faction and I for one would be standing beside the same legions wherever I am needed.
The factions are there because they were supposed to be an important part of the game and storyline. Whether thru financial problems or lack of determination that part of the game has foundered. EP2 had us all tag up and pick sides... then the game kind of let the faction side mean less.
The current state of the game factionwise is pretty sad yet we cling to it hoping or more than the few TP's we get from making a faction choice. Our guild is aligned with mostly Karavan guilds admittedly, but we are more aligned with the people that make up them guilds as they are the type of folks we want to play and have fun with.
It's guild vs. guild with each bringing their allies... faction may have brought us together but since faction can and has attacked faction, these cannot be called factions wars. Every battle is Attackers vs. Defenders, regardless of how the forum patrols try to tell you things are happening IG.
