And how long would it take, really, to find the where and when of sup mats now that we know the basics behind how it all works?

And it couldn't hurt to allow transfers either :/

I'm not planning to transfer, even if at some point it were to be allowed. I hope this new server, and Arispotle, are both treated as English speaking servers, with no distinctions (at least on the CSR side of this) other than the server name.

Most of the people I know, both European and North American, feel that Arispotle's community is good as it is now, and has benefitted from the merge.

This is fantastic news for everyone thinking about "coming back" to Ryzom. ;) I don't know what the current population is like on Arispotle (mainland) but I do know that I'll feel much more comfortable starting fresh together with others and be able to "leave" my own footprints instead of walking in others...

Thanks Nevrax!

From your logic in other discussions, regional servers would supposedly also amplify faction imbalance, no?

Why NA not Euro?

Likely yes. You'd most likely see an even more completely Karavan dominated server.

Ideally I'd rather we divided on RP/Community and PvP/Competition lines, without any mechanical changes, but again you'd likely see faction dominations depending on server.

I think you're mischaracterising though, the tendency toward Karavan is fed by several different and individually slight factors that combine to create a statistically significant bias. It isn't any single thing.

Leaving your footprints until a new shard is "freshly" open so your left footprints cannot be walked by anyone :D ? Don't get me wrong, I'd do the same, this is great for new players. Yet, other concerns regarding the existing ones are raised (and recenlty, issues with cross server trades)

Btw.. *if* they have been working wrt to mat randomness for the new server, or any other *new* feature... I'd be shocked.

Well, Arispotle is already an English speaking server, and it's located in the UK. That seems pretty Euro to me.

I was assuming that the server might be located in NA, but most likely it'll be in the UK, just labelled differently. And it doesn't make much sense to have 2 English Euro servers. A NA one, even if it's an unofficial title, would be great for the timing of OP battles and such. The minimum 5hr difference for NA players makes it difficult for some of them to attend these events.

And the more I hear about Cho being a "farming server" the more I cringe at it's opening. If that does happen I don't see the regular players there being all that happy with it, as most MMO players usually aren't when their server is taken over by farmers. And it could end up hurting Nevrax financially if those players decide to leave because of it.

This has the potential of being really great or truly horrendous. Only time will tell.

So a new shard, managed by Jolt as well, same language, same CSR, located in UK, with no specific differences, what for, other than "hoping to attract more new players with the thought of starting afresh"? Honestly, my main concern is the preference to join the "new one", thus contributing to the stalled situation in Arispotle. Less new guilds created, lack of new blood.
