I give up

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Ah, hell, I'll jump in too.

First off, I will admit that I found the original post somewhat whiny. However, that doesn't detract from the points he made. I will also add that at least he did provide the feedback. You have to remember that, as with any retail business, many people leave and never return without providing any feedback at all. Only a small portion bother to contact a company to provide information on why their experience was not sufficient to retain their business. This is a bad thing, from a business perspective and Nevrax is a business.

In order to get and retain new business, Nevrax needs to understand why people are leaving.

Having said all that, offering suggestions to help get started and keep going is great. Asking questions about whether or not he's seen waterfalls, not so great. Basically, this just reinforces the notion that the game is just eye candy.

Anyway, my point being, as hard as it may be to take criticism, especially criticism that is worded in a not-so-friendly way, these need to be viewed as chances to learn what is wrong. Because let's face it, as much as I am enjoying the game, and obviously as much as you guys do too, the majority of people who do make the trip to the mainland are having a difficult time of it and many quit without ever saying a word.

The subscriber numbers must improve, and Ryzom Ring hopefully will help with that, but to ignore the fact that the core game may be tweakable to make it more newb friendly is just burying your head in the sand.

Standard disclaimer-this is all my humble opinion, of course. ;)

The real problem at hand is that Ryzom is not for everyone. Like with almost 1 out of 5 forum topics I see the same thing taken and dicussed over and over. Everyone has their own way of playing Ryzom, and find enjoyment in different things, such as player advancement or exploration. I on the otherhand would find searching for obscure details and waterfalls, fun, and I enjoy the way I don't feel "told" what to do. I come to Atys to relax, much like others have their own motives.

It is generally a take it or leave it situation for most, some may say Ryzom may be lacking in areas, where others will say they love what Ryzom has to offer and are complacent.

Aside from this farewell friend, I wish you the best in your search for the "right" game.

I can solo grind almost all of my skills. I can't solo grind healing, afflictions is possible but not practical. Solo grinding at high level is doable but impractical.
Yep- works fine for me.

If you can't find someone to help you level by the time solo grinding is completely impractical perhaps you should reassess your behavior, not the game :P
