what gets annoying to me is people saying oh i hate PvP, why else do you lvl your 'attacking skills' Are we at war or not?
Doesnt PvP show the war? Maybe in the wars crafters and diggers should be used more, but thats something i brought up before.

No, we're not.
There are tensions, player-made tensions, left-overs from E2, Homins that have their heads still into building temples, Homins that want to payback what happened when building temples, but that's it.
No war - yet.

Marjo wrote:A few words about the Spires.
We originally planned to add them in the same time as the fame changes, but this wasn't made possible as we couldn't test them deeply enough within the time. Then we had other features in the pipe (RoS, R², Kitin's Lair) that couldn't be delayed, so the Spires testing got stalled.
After reading your feedbacks and also rethinking our priorities over the last months, we decided to not rush the Spires out. There are a few points we want to rethink about them. However for now, we have other work ongoing to be released after the Ring, including new Ring features that you've been asking for (such as foraging, PvP, etc.) and the Kitin's Lair.

For surviving and fighting through creatures. Why else? Despite the cities we seem to still be, primarily, a hunter/gatherer culture. Hunting is not so much a destructive skill for war but a necessary skill for survival.
No, we're not at war yet. The two factions are in a cold war, the doomsday clock has shifted closer to midnight but isn't there yet. The PvP mechanisms that we have in play weren't designed for faction war (and apparently aren't used that way at least on one of the other servers) but have been seconded for it.

Personaly i cant wait for Spires. only a hand full of peeps like PvP,for the rest of you it wont hurt you or help you. when TPs are disabled its only for us that wear PvP tags, - stats + stats ony if you have a flag on. peeps everywhere so scared whats gonna happen...but unless your involved nothing will happen

For those that do tag no worries either, impossible to take all the spires.
HPs on them are distributed, all zones or one same amout of hps.so there will be no killing off of a faction.
simply remeber by not makeing a choice you have already chosen.

Are you really sure about that? although the document may change, it says pretty clear that
"The first thing to keep in mind is the role of the PvP flag. You will only be affected by the rules and effects described in this document if you choose to enable it. This way, if you don't want to participate in the PvP conflict, you will be able to stay out of it – you will only be affected by the availability of respawn points and teleport tickets"
to me, it seems to imply that a factioned player will be affected by spawn availability, regardless of Tag. In case of doubt the Q&A :
http://www.ryzom.fr/development/q-a/ans ... anguage=fr
"It won't work that way. If you are factioned, and deactivate your PvP tag, then you will not benefit from the bonus of the Spires nor sustain their malus. In fact, if you are not PvP engaged, what the Spires will affect are your teleporting abilities only.
Honestly, if untagged but factioned players were not affected, I don't think there would be such negative feedback, at most, players would express their preference regarding future development efforts. As it was described, a Karavan tagged player e.g. for religious purposes but not interested in PVP cannot port to regions owned by the Kami.

Either I'm confused or you're mistaken: TP's will be disabled for all that are aligned to the affected faction, not just those with PvP tags up. You are correct about the stat bonuses, but I think the TP's are more global.
Otherwise, we could just turn off tags, teleport and then turn them back on.

Don't forget that Marjo indicated Spires is being delayed in release to re-evaluate some of the intended features due to player feedback... I wouldn't worry to much about it until we hear what's changing.

Everything they do is delayed, it was funny he mentioned they were gonna slow their rush to release to release something that was long overdue. Eventually Rothi you will have less faith in some of the time delaying tactics like the rest of us cynics
Spires are intriguing to me but this implementation seems like something that will ball up our community more...
