and to think of something else...
when(not if) we get them, how could they be made to please everyone?
i can think of a rather easy solution to the problem that spires could pose,
if it´s PvP content...
make them only work on you if you´re PvP-tagged!!!
so if you tag up, *bing*bonuses&restrictions are in place and all PvPer can fight all day long over them if they want.
no tag, no restrictions, but no bonuses too.
i admit that this solution has some ramifications(if you don´t know what i mean, just ask

), positive and negative, that could make some believe that it´s better to let it work for all, tagged or not, if they want it or not, but i think its better the way i sayed... just may 2dappers

I voted for rites in that poll. However, we've been told more than once that rites are not "in development" anymore. We also see that Spires are. The poll I have set up, which I notice already has several "no" votes and only one "yes" vote*, frames the question without including options that aren't really there at this time.
Hopefully people will not only vote on the poll, but include their opinions on what the devs might do to change their vote from "NO" to "YES". Because as things stand now, they have probably spent some time already on development of this planned Faction vs Faction feature. This means it would be very hard to stop it entirely but that player input could still cause it to be changed somewhat.
*I voted yes right after posting the poll... I've got alot of faith in this community, and the dev and csr teams

Now heres a cool little feature many of you may not have thought about. As I understand it Ring points are linked to the number of spawns you have
See what Im getting at with this? Right. If Atys is cut in half by Spires people will lose half of their spawns. What does that mean for the Ring points?
You won't loose the spawn points, you 'only' would not be able access them, when the region is occupied by a opposite force. So I don't think that will have influence on the Ring points.
Btw. part of the Spires codebase is already active

Well as far as I have readed the info on spires it would work that way, you only will gain the benefits a spire gives when you are pvp-flagged. Not sure about the penalties however.

Lore is like religion. You and I can read the same text and create differing religions that believe totally different things based on what the same text says.
The problem with this is the folks that think neutral is the only way will never follow as te story progresses. They will always fall back to the lore, they will eventually if the story starts to eliminate them, become hardline radicals that follow a book that only they believe exists.
Someone said it in here somewhere, that Neutral is intended to not be easy, it is intended to be a way to learn about both sides and allow for someone to then make an educated decision when or if they need to. Not to be standing about screaming how Neutral is the way to go.
Nothing against neutral here though.

I have no illusions about the role of neutrals in this game and I never said it would have to be easy.
michielb wrote:Lets face it the neutrals are just a coders sollution to the problem of how to give players a chance to explore both options before making a choice, they were never meant to be a 3rd option. (And they never will be...)
What saddens me though is that neutrals have a far stronger backing in the lore that they had in AO (which also had a severely gimped neutral faction) but that it is being dismissed by both the dev's and a large part of the player base as being futile and unimportant to the storyline where I see a lot of unused potential in have a neutral faction that actually means something.
What I meant in the post you quoted was simply that the addition of neutrals so far has been a pointless exercise and a was of code if they didn't want to spend any time on give neutrals a meaningfull role in the story they could have just used the undecided status as the go between and not even bother with a neutral status.
But they didn't. Even before the faction war went life the lore had Tryton and his followers as a third way so why drop that idea now?
Whether people like it or not neutrals have a firm base in the lore as so there will be people who choose that option. Now I don't ask for things to be handed to me on a silver plate but I do think I, and other neutrals, have the right to a small piece of the pie...
ps just because I believe that neutrals were never meant to be a serious option doesn't mean I'm happy about it.

That will leave the new players that start after Spires goes live; will they get inactive spawn if they ever manage to get to "occupied" territory?
