Personally I think I'd be against any titles which would imply a "class" beyond what we already have... and I would also be against any special bonuses for a certain "class". It would take Ryzom away from what so many of us love, which is the ability to do and be anything, and do it equally at least on a material level.
Also, I don't, personally, see titles as having anything to do with role playing. My character can't mysteriously see a title floating over someone's head, so it means nothing to my character, and as a role-player, I would not take it into consideration when playing.
That's just my take.

As an after thought to the ninja, I want cloak! Some kind of stealth aspect they could use, or be able to spy on other guilds, using unique skills to listen in on their guild chat...
*silently dreams of being the leader of a guild of rightious ninja spys, giving orders to spy on other guilds and wreck the plans that are sinister...

*
*snaps out of it*
Oh well, what do you guys think?

Yes, i see your point, and I agree with you on some of that, it would probably put too much (or at all) emphises on "classes". Oh, well, I'm just think out loud as I normally do...
Very good point.

Not those specific titles...too steeped in Earth lore. "Ninja" is Japanese, for example.
Origins:
Paladin
Ninja

Uhm, sorry but I think we´re going a tad too far here with your dreams, nice and pretty as they may be

But now you´re beginning to snap back to that what these Ideas of your´s IMHO most definetely shouldn´t be.
They should be an inspiration to come up with a nice "unique" fighting style and help other newcommers to learn how to use stanzas and somesuch.
What they should not be, is a workaround to bringing classes into SoR.
It´s Ok to use words like Paladin, or Shadowwarrior (Ninja transalted), to describe a ceratin fighting style, but it´s not OK to suddenly give them any other advantadge over others just because they are what they are:
Thats Classes, y´know.
I´m all for the Idea of developping fighting styles and maybe even schools, but I´m absolutely against giving them some "special" trick.
Trouble with an open skill system like ours, is the same as with special Armor, (most) everyone would want to have it.
If not everyone could have it, it´s back to classes, throw away the open skill system... Huzzaaah!
So sorry, but no. What would be the use if everyone had it?

Yeah, thanks for keeping me in line, realized I went a tad too far.
Ah well, like I said, thinking out loud...gets me in to trouble a little too often
But yes, your all right, classes is not what we want in Ryzom.

Ok, well I believe we have strayed a ways away from the topic of this post. (I'm not accusing anyone since it was mainly me.

) I would like to get back to the aim off the post which is new combat style ideas. Not classes, or special abilities, or anything. Just some good combat ideas to spark some inspiration to new players as well as some more "advanced".
I will try to come up with another wacky off the wall idea by tomarrow (as are all the rest of mine

) So please if we can get some more people to post that would be great.
Good Luck!!

Streaker
- Wears no armor.
- Dashes into the midst of the enemy in PvP.
- Has high melee and magic skills so they can have the best Magic Shield Aura, Melee Protection Aura, Invulnerability, and Speeding-Up Power.
- Uses the aforementioned auras and powers while in proximity to the enemy, to avoid being nuked or hit. Note, they have no protection from being hit on.
- Possesses a secret weapon: Huggle. This skill is learned by creating a chat macro containing the word "huggles," possibly including somewhat disturbing phrases such as "huggles the nearest mage and attempts to eat the sparklies off their amps," wrapped in asterisks to indicate action.
- Uses Huggle in combination with their mad dash into the midst of the enemy to create temporary distraction and confusion.
Sorry...I couldn't resist.

I wouldn't mind classes so much if we had this.
