Kinda offtopic: check the portals between lands. Many don't have TPs nearby, yet you can spawn there. They are often referred as neutral spawnpoints because of this.

So spawning is independent from the Kami and Karavan. They just set up extra spawnpoints near the cities (or the cities were built close to those spawnpoints, whichever it was).

[edit] And yes, you can spawn at them regardless of your faction.

(And something really-really offtopic: since the fame changes a newborn character's spawnpoints are Kami. When you fame is 0/0 and you didn't do a single mission, Kami spawnpoints show up, not Kara ones, even for normally Kara aligned races -- was tested with Tryker alt)

the portal spawns are more of a fix/nessesity from a game mechanic, as there is no cross country/area respawn. so on 1st visit to a pr zone and you get killed by kinchers, where would you spawm, if not for the portals, same concept for trips, were you to go to the faction's default spawn in a land on death after just entering, it would make trips so much simpler.

The lore is incomplete on the topic of "intercontinental" portals so you go and shoot down my argument with "it's just game mechanics".

When someone brings up game mechanic related concerns you go "it's so and so in the lore so that's how it's supposed to be" and shoot his/her argument down with that.

You would make a great politican you know, I must give you that. But I can't accept your counter-argument.

In game mechanics > lore imho, and if there is no official explanation for something in the lore, we are free to make up our own explanations, or bug the officials to make a statement. Slavers tribe is a great example, we did get an official statement. The question if there is sand on Atys was also cleared up and it turned out it's woodchip on the ground, not sand.

Until you can point out an official explanation for the "intercontinental" portals, my argument stands: they are not restricted to followers of a specific faction (not even the Karavan opened Zorai-Fyros link) as spawnpoints so we have good reason to belive that Kami and Karavan are not the ones who exclusively "own respawn technology", since if they would "own" these portals they would be restricted to the appropriate faction.

Unless I missed something along my travels, one side of EVERY portal/spawn has either a Kami or Kara rep. Would be a bit redundant to have a Karavan/Kami on both sides of these spawns when you can walk thru and see them there.

BB-ToT for example doesn't have Kami/Kara presence on either side, just a totem on BB side -- unless they sneaked something it with the last patch.
