abruptly? you've been getting announcements about it for months now...
what do you expect?
1st day: kill 1 enemy
2nd day: kill 2 enemies
..... ? right...

What do I expect?

A decent reason to fight.
Better build up.
Homin leaders whose actions are consistent to their lore.
NPCs you can interact with, rather than just listen to.
Proper account given to the neutrals/hominists (of which there are many)

A lot more.

aye... have to agree here. Its been known for a long time that FvF was coming. Also Outposts will be something similar... so the change from PvE to PvE + PvP should have been seen way in advance.

If you don't like it, don't play it. Simple. Yes, they're not catering to everyone. Doubt that will ever happen either. and No, they can't make it so everyone can choose every possible option of all the various gameplay types. Instead they are focusing on the ones that make a game contraversial (to some) and have made other games popular (which is something Nevrax is probably focusing more on at the moment than wether they lose a handful of old timers. If they gain 100 new subs, but lose 20, they're still 80 ahead even if they're 1337ers. Money is money)

Did the consent definitions help by the way or were you just being sarcastic in saying you didn't understand it?

I suggest funding Nevrax then, Judy. They aren't exactly at the top of their game financially, so they can't exaclty hire a whole new team to create all of this at once, plus the people to actually make it so you can "interact" with them all (since I'm assuming that being given a speech bubble with three different options to choose from wouldn't be "truly interactive" for you)

Unfortunatley for you, the thing thats popular with many games that the moment if the PvP aspect. Look at WoW or Guild Wars, two very popular games. If Nevrax hopes to regain its balance and take a strong position in the online world, then they have to cater to the market, not to the cult following it already has, since obviously, it wasn't enough to fully support them.

I'll clarify then.

We've known for a long time OOC as players that FvF of some sort was coming.
IC we've been given the flimsiest of reasons to fight, we've not really had anything that explains why the leaders aren't acting anything like lore or their written personalities suggest they should act.

In other words the context, the RP justification for conflict is, at best, flimsy as hell.

One could just as easily say that its been obvious for bloody ages, from the response to PvP in the PR and numerous other things that there is a strong neutral/peaceful/hominist presence on the server and that they should have been catered to.

In the long run they're down.
The type of players that they're driving off are the ones that have kept the game going, that have (previously) given it good word of mouth, helped grow it back up and would make the most and best use of R2.

They may be smaller in number - though I no longer believe that after the last couple of days - but their overall effect is disproportionate to that number.

I think what everyone but grim is ignoring or incapable of understanding is that its not entirely correct to say that the pvp is consentual. The entire content and epsidoe people have been waiting for is based on these honor points that gives the "rewards".

Based on progress of just the monuments it appears that this will be the longest event Ryzom has ever had. Kaetami you state dont participate there will be other events. Your most likely right there will be more. So you expect people will be happy not participating and getting rewards but keep paying for months and months while other players pass you in "rewards" while your left with doing nothing spectaular or new? I appear to have two options here

1. Keep paying for pvp content ... in another game that has better pvp such as WoW, Guild Wards or City of Villans.

2. Keep paying for pvp content in this game and have nothing new or fun to do

Sorry but I'm gonna go with option 1 there. You see its not that I'm against PvP; I just think its very borked in Ryzom.

Again, YOU DON'T HAVE TO JOIN THE EVENT!

good night.
