I wasn't saying he is right or wrong. Just that the individual player is free to make their own judgements as to what the game is to them. To him it has less content than WoW. Whatever he's looking for, he feels WoW has more of it. For Jyudas to basically say (through someone elses quote) he doesn't know what he's talking about is honestly ridiculous.

Svayvti...good point.

Maybe some people need to admit the game isn't perfect and maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to focus on some things that might help more new players get into Ryzom and become a part of the community.

Sorry, just really tired of the fanboi responses that only serve to drive more people away.

I like the game but i dont think i am a fanboi :)

I try to show some basics.

Look at young children when playing. What they do is totaly useless :) This brought me to the conclusion that the essence of playing is "doing useless things".

As soon as you try to reach a goal you stop playing.

SoR offers a nice environment where you can spent hours with useless things. Nobody wants anything from me. The nice thing is, that there are things to achieve if you want to.

The point is that in every single post i haven't seen anything that another MMO(RP)G does NOT have. You are all talking about what you consider content, but you can also do that in other games. And not only that but more.

HOWEVER because there is "other content" in these games "your type of content" becomes less important. Because this game lacks real "other content" there is not mutch else to do than "create" your own content.

This lack of content has resulted in how Ryzom is today. Positives are that the community is very helpfull, and why shouldent they, since actually the only thing u can do is explore, hunt, craft, collect. And it is more fun to do that with other ppl than alone, not?

For me this is no plus however. The ppl i know play WoW. This game has both community and "other content" to offer. And also in WoW counts: you can create your own type of content (explore, help, chat, RP, etc etc etc..). Sure WoW has its disadvantages also but every gae has that, not?

ryzom has an ongoing story that can be influenced by the players.
and like micrix, i'm fine with you going to wow. in terms of execution and features it is superior to ryzom. =)

Exactly! ... and to which I add, This is Your Life on Atys.

~ sudden bizarre thought ~ Do you play as if it were a game or an alternate Life? Everybody jokes about that other game, Real Life - but ... what if it is "just" another game?

He knows what _he_ is talking about, but his definition is limited/erroneous depending on how you want to look at it.

There are many types of 'content' Ryzom has things in spades that others lack. The type of 'content' most often talked about is flash, not meat.

Dungeons are limited, static, repeated, no matter how many of them are made.
Unique drop items become ubiquitous drop items after a time.
Quests are just the same as Ryzom missions, just with a bit of fluff.

What Ryzom HAS is a fantastic and creative community, a living world far more immersive than any other MMO currently in the top list, a consistency and scope of vision that is unrivalled and a long term storyline that we will be able to influence and interact with.

To 'get' Ryzom, in its current incarnation you have to 'live' it, grasp it, go after it, not expect it to be served on a platter to you. _We_ make it as much as the devs and that's about the best thing about it.

To keep the quote theme going...

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
- Hamlet

Oh, the game isn't perfect but its always frustrating when people can't 'get' what you see as richness to something or wish it was something else, or the SAME as something else.

That's the risk in going after 'some things that might help more new players get into Ryzom'. You end up with a homogenous grey pap or a weak imitation of every other game on the market.

If loads of PvP, phat lewt, dungeons and all the rest of the weak bodoc-dung that gets quoted as content were flung into Ryzom it wouldn't be Ryzom any more.

That's part of the reason I'm so concerned about the PvP increase and implementation, its not Ryzom as it has developed thus far.
