My method(s)
1) I have max focus
2)I did not, and will not, take the white elephant of a digging rite for source time "bonus"
My usual prospect:
Terrain spec
Material spec
Angle 4 (90 degrees)
Accelerated Prospecting 5
Multiple Spot 7 (10 sources)
Knowledge 1 (just because I'm to lazy to take it out)
Grade Stanza (up to choice, only excellent, etc. Varies depending on what I'm doing)
Counterpart 12 (-500)
I do not use range on this for two reasons. One, I do not like wasting time running from one source to another. Two, if you cast a wide prospect, it will annoy other diggers in the area due to partially depleted deposits. Deposits usually have about 71 mats in them. If 70 are removed, additional sources will be revealed with additional prospects. If 71 are removed, the source will read as depleted. If there are two source nodes of a given mat per digger, all can be constantly busy without touching each others current source nodes, at least at quality level 160+
For times when I'm in a new area, or have forgotten exactly where the nodes are, I use a search prospect with the following specs:
Terrain spec
Material spec (if I'm looking for a specific mat. If I'm just checking out a new source field, I take it out.)
Angle 7 (360 degrees)
Range (up to 7, but I usually have the best luck with 3)
Accelerated Prospecting 5
Multiple Spot 7 (10 sources)
Knowledge 3
Grade Stanza (up to choice, only excellent, etc. Varies depending on what I'm doing)
Counterpart 14 (-750)
Once the sources have been sought out, and I know where they are, I use the first prospect before I start digging. I also use heal focus 10, to cover the cost of the prospect, and, if necessary, the search stanza. It will recharge a little before you have finished digging 3 Q250 sources. Also, before setting pick to ground, I select sources and look at their content, only choosing ones with 20+ mats in them, which, since the source content rounds up, but what is actually pulled is rounded down, means 19+ mats are in the source.
In areas where the Kami tolerance is low, or I'm not alert enough to get fancy I use the following extraction:
Speed 3 Gentle
Rate 6 Agressive
Quality 250 Gentle
Terrain Spec
Counterpart 12
Yield= 16 mats.
You cannot use material spec, due to it costing a piddling 2 points too much for counterpart 12, and counterpart 12 is overall the most efficient at high level. I used to switch out thr rate for Rate 4 Gentle, and add material spec for areas where KT was REALLY low, now I just don't dig them.
For areas where KT is high, and I'm feeling bright-eyed, I start with the following:
Speed 5 Gentle
Rate 6 Aggressive
Quality 190 Gentle
Terrain Sec
Counterpart 12
Then, once I have gotten 9-11 mats (just after the little "10 of Q 190" has floated up is most efficient, but there is a margin for error), I switch to the first stanza to finish up.
Yeild depends on how many times I have to CP
5 times=17 mats
4 times=18 mats
3 times=19 mats
with the additional benifit that, since half of the dig was done at a quaility 60 points lower, you finish a Q250 source in the time it would take to dig a Q220 source.
In all cases, my CP=
Stability 5
Preservation 5
Terrain Spec
Counterpart 10
There are likely much more effecient methods, and teaming with a CPer is always benificial (except for XP) , but this method is within the capabilities of my modem.
*EDIT*: Forgot to include range in my "Search Prospect" . An excellent example of the mental state in which I only use the first digging brick
