How would it make people feel who just earned 250 to see their title handed down to everyone 50 levels lower? Or to now work towards 250 for a title you already had....

Not really an answer to your question, however, it made me think of something I'd like to see in titles. I think all 250 titles should be unique sounding. I really dislike when a 250 title is just the 201 title with "Master" added ("Master Lakeland Forager", "Master Jeweler", etc.). Now the proposed changes do seem to address some of these for the Melee branch but I think every 250 title should be something quite unique like "Celestial Guardian" and "Avatar of Destruction".

As to whether those 201/250 magic titles should be swapped, I don't really have a strong opinion either way. I have always though the various magic titles were good in that they're unique and don't follow some vanilla pattern but swapping them either way doesn't change that (which is good).

Why do we need coherency with french titles? Most of the reason is "sounds ugly in french", so why can't we keep our titles and only french community gets new ones?

It's not a bad idea at all, but it seems to me we all have french titles now which sound bad in english (my opinion).

Maceman --> Nankarist
Spearman --> Katoorian
Axeman --> Haquer
Swordsman --> Klydist
Heavy-Maceman --> Kankarist
Pikeman --> Punnelist
Heavy-Axeman --> Retchist
Heavy-Swordsman --> Slathist
Knifeman --> Fylerist
Pistoleer --> Koltoneer
Artilleryman --> Brazerist
Rifleman --> Strabuseer

And most important thing, if the Priest is gone - are so the weddings?

I've always REALLY liked the idea of getting special titles for reaching certain levels in all branches of a tree.

Here's another idea for this in the harvest tree:

101 in any terrain = <terrain> Diviner
151 in any terrain = <terrain> Surveyor
201 in any terrain = <terrain> Prospector
250 in any terrain = <terrain> Geologist

If you reach those levels in all terrains, you could have "Atysian" titles (Atysian Diviner, Atysian Surveyor, Atysian Prospector, Atysian Geologist). The "Atysian" meaning you reached that level in all branches.

Just another idea for the all branches title idea.

Some of the title changes are good, but I have to agree with others on the 'Oracle' suffix. The german translation is better in that case imho since Dream Oracle = Weaver/Wover of Dreams, Life Oracle = Source/Fount of Living/Life (hope my de->en traslation isn't borked :o ), so maybe these titles could be worked on a bit more for a more unique feel.

My other problem are the new 201 titles for melee and ranged. These are nice ideas, but like others said, it's too much RP focused - and some don't have any RP reason what so ever, like Koltoneer for pistols, Kolton = Fyros Bowpistol, but according to lore only Tryker (bowpistol) and Matis (pistol) are specialised in 1h ranged, so it should be Fletcher- or Maka- :confused:

If you would make 4 titles for the 4 races (or in case of 1h raged... 8) available at those levels it would be better, but then you should also change 250 titles for coherency.

When/if race differences get implemented the RP based titles will be a good idea, but until then I'd prefer more general titles.

Edit: to clarify the last part, if for example Trykers would get bonus to bowpistols, Matis to pistols, Fyros to launchers and autolaunchers and Zorai to bowrifles, then it would be very nice to get the appropriate race-specific title available when you reach that level and have completed the specialisation rite/whatever.

replacing light armsman with swordsman.. just isnt appropriate, never touched a 1h sword in my career, and dont plan too until I get daggers over 100 :D .. how about "Skirmisher" ?

Macemaster sounds like a kitchen implement.

Oracle is bad, Mage sounds much better.

Didnt see anything for Skewerers' (1h spear >151)

As for the Slathist etc, Fyrosians cultural trademark is the flaming axe, not swords, so there can be cultural links to weopon titles, although how they get divided up would be subject to ..vicious debate.

As for the Foraging titles :) I work as a RL mine surveyor, I will punch anyone who calls me a geologist :D .. also "geo" is not appropriate for Atys. Possible suggestions "digger", "miner", and already in use by NPCs in the game, harvester, Overseer, Superviser

Yeah i like that alot but i dont think Nevrax will go for an NPC title (Prospector) being lower than 250 , Id also keep 101 as it is now <terrain> Forager as it would be the only time its used like that if the 151/201/250 titles were changed

Edit ...in fact i doubt Nevrax will like the use of Prospector anywhere in player titles so id sugest a slight modification to:-

101 in any terrain = <terrain> Forager (as now + the Atysian for All terrain)
151 in any terrain = <terrain> Diviner
201 in any terrain = <terrain> Surveyor
250 in any terrain = <terrain> Geologist

If you reach those levels in all terrains, you could have "Atysian" titles (Atysian Forager, Atysian Diviner, Atysian Surveyor, Atysian Geologist). The "Atysian" meaning you reached that level in all branches.

Oracle for me does not seem to fit at all, my defininition may not be correct as per Oxford English dictionary but an Oracle to me means, somone who can "see" things in a divination sense or somone who is extremly wise and full of knowledge.

In short i am sorry but Oracle would be a completly rubbish suffix for these mage classes.

Going over the magic titles besides the chage from Oracle to Mage, I thought a few tweeks to be in order.

Summoner---->Illusionist
This is ok so no change

Priest ---->Life Giver---->Vivifier
Life Giver just sounds klunky.
Plus it reminds me of the punch line to a rather ribald joke.

Affliction Bringer---->Tormentor
Again this is ok

Archmage---->Elementalist---->Devastator
More in keeping with the tone of the other titles

The next ones are more inline with the French titles

Master of Illusion---->Dream Oracle---->Mage of Illusion

Master of Life---->Life Oracle---->Mage of Vivification

Master of Torment---->Torment Oracle---->Mage of Torment

Master of Pain---->Devastation Oracle---->Mage of Devastation

These do seem to fit better. The Elemental Magic tree would now be:
Destroyer
|
|__Devastator
|
|__Mage of Devastation
|
|__Avatar of Destruction

I would imagine the ones not mentioned aren't scheduled for any changes....

But they didn't specify.
