You can ignore it all you want it's not going to change things.
I'm not ignoring anything. I just don't care about kami/karavan conflict. They are both strange to me. They both have common enemy (kitins - also not in the lore now, except one part that says that it took 2 years to push them back to depths of Atys). If i get kill kitins mission from kami welcomer i'll lose karavan fame (back thing when this started). And the other way around. Same for kill bandits missions. Makes no sense to me. Except that they are both arogant. I only hope that there will be thith party for ppl like me (don't think so, to be honest). If this game in the future does'nt offer more options for "neutrality", i'll just have to select one side (karavan i guess, just to restore balance). Hope i will never be forced to do that.

Nope, whether a tribe will protect you or not only depends on your global fame with them (so if you're not known to them, that's only your racial fame). In fact I deliberately avoid doing missions for certain tribes so that my fame with them doesn't drop from gaining fame with their enemies, and I can still use their camps as safehavens. I believe as long as a tribe doesn't attack you on sight (-80 fame) it will always protect you from predators, though they only protect you from herbies if your fame is above -33.
oldmess wrote:Pre-patch, welcomers that I checked never listed a fame requirement, but now I see that they do have one. It's like -65 or better, but it's still a requirement. That may explain why you can't get missions from that tribe.
I visited the First Deserters and the Cholorogoos today, whom pre-patch both had -66 racial fame with Matis, and I could still do missions for the welcomers despite the fame requirement saying I needed at least -65. Like I said, I avoid doing missions for these tribes to maintain their camps as safehavens (though if aggro behavior stays the way it currently is, I really won't need safehavens anymore), so I don't know whether the racial fame has changed or the fame requirement is incorrect.

hmm, i need to check that then. Had an experience a few weeks ago where a team member ran to tribe for a little help with a herb and they watched her die in the middle of camp.. we got her to do a mission (hadnt had tribe on fame table at this point) and afterwards they were happy to help out.. dont think she would have got a whole fame point for a spot the ragus mission which in turn bumped fame over -33 but cant be sure.. will go do a little test this weekend

Sometimes they seem to just randomly decide not to help out. The Karavan at dyron let me die one day, and the next (did maybe 1 karavan mission, but my global fame definately stayed the same) they defended me to the death.
Happened to me a coupla times with tribes way back too..

Hmm, perhaps they only help against herbies if you're known to them AND have enough fame with them? I know the Sacred Sap and the Ecowarriors didn't help me against herbies until my fame with them was up to around -30 (so no, I'm not sure it's exactly -33). I'll do some tests with tribes that don't know me.

I thought tribes you have fame less than 0 would aggro on you?

It was -66 before, but that may be changed now. Personaly i try not to do any tribe missions, they sometimes change fame table in strange way and with wrong text (150+ zones tribes).

My experience, based on a few tribes, has been:
above 0 to get missions from the tribe, except...
-65 or above to get missions from the welcomer
-80 or below they will agro you if you come into the camp
This references global fame in all cases, not personal.
Wandering members of the tribe will not agro you unless you attack them regardless of fame.
Also, it's always appeared to me that the tribes don't really help you, but they don't like anything that's gone agro in their camps, so they attack it. If it comes thru fast enough, they may not respond quickly enough. Don't know for sure. I've seen cases where their help wasn't enough (ended up wiping an entire camp once when I accidently attacked a named boss and then tried to drag him back to let them "help" me. Glad they didn't hold that against me.
Noticed one other nit: Attacking a tribe doesn't lower your fame with them. Attacking and killing them does. Attacked one recently due to a mistarget. Jumped into the water to hide instead of finishing the job and there was no negative impact on my fame.

Yup, always been that way; I guess they understand that "accidents do happen"
