I've seen them do their job. I guess I've jsut seen differant things than you have.

(I know of the bans because the players mentioned it themselves in a region chat)

Where in the contract does it specify what their duties are? It says what we should not do, can do, and that we have to follow their directions. But does it say anywhere that they have to punish everyone who breaks a rule? I doubt it.

Aye, I'm curious as to what's _not_ being done that 'should be'

Silly names aren't against the code though, unfortunately ;P
no agreed, it does put a dent in the immersion factor somewhat. I was being a little flippant earlier.. Still its a vast improvement over people that use their RL name.. MarkWilcox indeed :(

rule enforcement, that's what a gamemaster does in any game. they can try and define it as something else but 30 years of role playing games have given a definition to the word that will be hard to change

as for what them punishing every player who does, no that's impossible because not all of it is reported, however when a group of players regularly break the rules and they do nothing about it, like in this case, they aren't doing their job

Except that we have seen people punished, and fairly promptly.
Most notably a certain someone mentioned not so many posts ago.

And in conventional RPing, GMing comes a distant second to narration and environment description.

The rules you're talking about aren't the 'rules of the game' they're the rules of personal interaction and, if you're going to enforce them, rely on proof.

@Thexdane

Just to make this crystal-clear: We have zero tolerance for cheaters, cheats and exploits in The Saga Of Ryzom. I am honestly not sure where you are getting the impression from that nothing is being done about Code of Conduct or EULA violations. ;) Of course we do something about them, why wouldn't we? As previously stated, we thoroughly investigate each and every report about CoC violations and take adequate actions where appropriate.

In case you are referring to a particular incident, feel free to pm me about it, I'll be glad to have a look.

I'll be closing this thread, it's starting to end up in a flamewar and everything important on this topic has already been said (be sure to also read my previous statement earlier in this thread, where I explained a couple things regarding our procedures and policies - http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showpost.php ... stcount=11).
