*Update*
A rewritten calculation!

A way to be unique in appearance can be achieved by combining the different armorpieces already available.

Light armor:
5 pieces in an armor
4 races that have different looks
3 plantypes (basic, medium and high quality plan)
8 colors (blue, red, green, beige, purple, turquose, black, white)

Medium armour:
5 pieces in an armor
4 races
3 plantypes
8 colors (blue, red, green, brown, purple, turquose, black, white)

Heavy armor:
6 pieces in an armor
4 races
3 plantypes
8 colors (blue, red, green, brown, purple, turquose, black, white)

Each piece on an armor has 96 (4 * 3 * 8) possible looks.

The combination for a light armor can be made like this:
pick one vest from 96
pick one pants from 96
pick one gloves from 96
pick one sleeves from 96
pick one boots from 96
After each 96 parts to choose from, there is another 96 parts to choose from.

So one light set would be 96 * 96 * 96 * 96 * 96 = 96^5
Same goed for medium.
In Heavy, a helm must be added so 96 * 96 * 96 * 96 * 96 * 96 = 96^6

Light armor only: 96^5 = 8.153.726.976 possible combinations
Medium armor only: 96^5 = 8.153.726.976 possible combinations
Heavy armor only: 96^6 = 782.757.789.696 possible combinations

Now these where from one armor class only, if we dump all classes on one big heap you get the following:

Any type combo:
helm: 96 different pieces
vest: 96 + 96 + 96 = 288 pieces
sleeves: 96 + 96 + 96 = 288 pieces
boots: 96 + 96 + 96 = 288 pieces
gloves: 96 + 96 + 96 = 288 pieces
pants: 96 + 96 + 96 = 288 pieces

Agian start equipping:
pick one vest from 288
pick one pants from 288
pick one gloves from 288
pick one sleeves from 288
pick one boots from 288
pick one helm from 96

That will become the following:
288 * 288 * 288 * 288 * 288 * 96 = 190.210.142.896.128 possible combinations.

I see a number I have no idea how to pronounce or write down, but I kinda get the feeling that there is loads of possibilities for being creative with clothing and appearance.
You can also apply weapons too ub their differen types, looks, races and plans. And to tell you the truth, I am not *that* bored I want to try to calculate that.

I *was* bored enough to try and find out how to write the number down:
"One hundred and ninety trillion two hundred and ten billion one hundred and forty-two million eight hundred sixty-nine thousand one hundred and twenty eight"

I hope this updated post can help you comprehend the possibilities that Ryzom offers us.

Grtz,

Grtz,
Not that you can change gender in this game or race, but from a variaty point of view.....

2 genders
4 races

The armours look very different on a male char when compared to a female char. The different race armour is placed on a different race, this can alter the overall appearance ..... Tryker armour looks more streached on a Zoria for example.

So you BIG number can be multiplied by 2 for character gender and again by 4 for the race of the wearer ......

Us crafters need to get busy and stop just crafting easy red.

I do this kind of stuff in between my production peaks they allow me to have.

30 min creative high powered productivity vs. 45 slacking is allowed here. Makes me sometimes wonder if I died and went to heaven, I mean I get paid to think about ways to break software. As long as I document and plan a bit what I do, I can just foobar everything into oblivion. And browse forums. And mail a bit. And the slack is paid for too.

Anyone jealous already?

Maby mage staffs or somthing like that would be nice

The only thing a mage uses now is an amp and light armor. Fighters have coise between different wepons. Mages have only 1 wepon they can use without malus.

Soooorriiiiie, can't help myself, it is that damned master degree in mathematics.

I will be gentle this time around. Helms (96) and no helm (97 in all), and with no helm you have all the possibilities of facial and hair combinations. :D

Which proves again that I am not the only person with a compulsive replying sydrome.

Yes, there is always the option to *not* wear any item which means that all parts should be upped one. Did you notice that one too?

And: "No, I am not going to recalculate"
