yep, i'm following those threads ^^

haven't seen anyone else post the whois results of the spiderweb-intl.com domain name anywhere yet, though, and this also adds some information to the info on those people related to spiderweb; there's an email address and another address of some location...

Ok so this lifts the shroud of secrecy a bit but only a bit... Has this Neuromedia done any mmorpg realted projects in the past?

Btw here's another short biography of Laurent Faure that even shows the books he likes and the movies he prefers :) http://laurent.faure.free.fr/Introduction/LFE.html

So this isn't the Benoit Faure that sells the luxury yachts,
as we first believed?

elthunim wrote:Well, yes and no. Of course, the fact that Ryzom has a new owner doesn't mean that all the paperwork is done, that all the server/toon data has been passed on, etc. Neither does the information give us any indication of "Spiderweb"'s intention regarding the game. Let's just hope they won't leave us in the dark for months...

If you read closely I never said it was done, i mearly said it was "progressing". Progressing does not indicate completion but a step towards it, whether it be a good thing or bad thing. This has moved a step further than about 9 or so months ago when GF France went kaput. Anyways.... *sits and waits for what hopes to be more news at some point*

There's both Benoit Faure and Laurent Faure behind Spiderweb International.

According to the description on the Neuromedia site (http://122340.free.fr/neuromediastaff/nstaff.html), it could either be or not be the same Benoit we had found out about before (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/3/a06/1a4), I'm not entirely sure. That Laurent Faure is the brother of a Benoit Faure (http://laurent.faure.free.fr/LFN.html).

I'm not sure if the Neuromedia Laurent and Benoit Faure are the same as the ones from Spiderweb (they seem to be common names, but chances are lower for those names to be in the same context).

No worries. Things seem to be progressing all right, and the bidding process is now complete, contrary to what I thought a few days ago.

What is everything ? Here's a note from Xavier's site:

"There are no more employees, no servers, a large portion of the player base has already moved on to other games, and we don't know if we would be able to get the server data including the characters."

I'm looking at this from the buyer's side. If I truly "had control" what would I do ? "Nothing" would be at the very bottom of any list I can imagine so I think that in and of itself is a message. I can only think of two scenarios where "nothing" fits:

1. They are not at liberty to proceed.
2. We don't figure into their plans

Since the players are customers, I would think that the player information would be very valuable to any buyer looking to get the complete package. I would not want to spend the kind of money that they did and only get a partial game.

You did not think of option 3, where they have the software and are trying to fix the bugs and develop a marketing strategy that will work. Any marketing strategy takes time and they will need a good one to fix the mess that Gameforge has left behind.

That canNOT happen. I swear, what's wrong with people!? Ryzom is the best game I have ever seen and played, even my friend who have NEVER played it just need to take a look at some of the screenshots and hear the lore and I have them converted already. My stories about the amazing community and the roleplay experiences I've had in the past only feed their itch for the game (not to mention mine ...) ... need I say more?? Why can't people see the amazing game we have! Spiderweb can't just wipe Atys off the face of the universe; it's damn hard to erase a planet.
