1. No music: To be honest, I cant find an excuse for his design choice. I know that some people do not like to have in game music, and prefer to use an mp3 player, but for me (and considering most player made reviews I have seen, for most new players) the lack of music Is a big drawback. Some people say that it helps the immersion, but to be honest for me is an exact opposite, a fitting music in a well designed location gives one hell of a game experience, and If music really bugs you so much, you can always turn it off (its not like you have this option for some of the more irritating mob sounds). I sure hope Nevrax will get some good soundtrack ingame soon, because so far Ryzom is the only MMO that I know w/o any field/battle music.
2. Mobs: While I appreciate developing a good ecosystem full of unique animals and plants, but no matter how well designed will various predators be, fighting a pack of Gingos will never be so exiting that lets say, a fierce fight with a group of Raiders in your typical fantasy MMORPG. And Kitins should be an unstoppable swarm, and in game they feel like a randomly placed groups of mobs without any purpose whatsoever. This game could really use some more interesting enemies.
3. Quests: They are just to dry. And the funny thing is that they dont even need to be changed, I have nothing against repeating the same task for reputation, I dont need to the 1250957024th savior of princess Katrin but give me some reason and back-story to it. We can see it done in newbie isle, and a stupid explanation give from the NPC about why does he needs these 5 pairs of boots helps a lot. So far asking NPC about his occupation gives you a generic (i.e. all scouts say the same thing) response, which for such a story-driven game just doesnt seem right.
Other than that (and a few other things
) this is an brilliant game
gah, Im geeting to sleepy
gnight, when I wake up tomorrow I want to see music in Ryzom
