I just found out why we get a whole weekend of such exciting (yawn) action and why our little problems & bugs arn't sorted. The devs put it all in operation & then bug off for the weekend to leave us to cope with the whole clunky system.
I am surprised that anyone seems to have enjoyed it. I took a couple of hours trying and couldn't stand it anymore. I logged out and went elsewhere.
I initially started in Matis (KoD) but the mobs were so weak a hearty fart blew them over. I then went to Dyron but found out that you had to redeem mats in Frahar tower. Off I toddled to then discover that the officer would only take 5 items at a time. Then 5 tokens for bigger ones then 5 tokens .....
I'm sure u get the picture. I also lost 99 claws for some reason. In the end I just destroyed the mats/tokens because I simply could not be bothered.
Its a shame that the devs are not quite as sophisticated as the paying customer and will continue to deliver us doses of crap until we strongly tell them different.

If all you were doing was gathering claws and redeeming them for tokens, then you kinda missed the heart of the mission (just like me and everyone else at first) :) The claws and tokens are kind of an aside to the core of what we're supposed to do.

The more important mission is to gather the secretions (via harvesting and hunting) and deliver them to the material NPC. That NPC then turns them into generic raw material that the crafers can use to craft weapons and armor. For every 5 crafting missions done, a guard group is created to help when the kitin start advancing.

Played a bit during the event on Saturday morning. I was happily foraging away for secreation, but has the hassle of at least 10, 50m agro Kinchers near by. Made life 'interesting' a few times....

Done a few missions giving the secreation to the NPC who wanted it. Would like to get to the Crafting mission NPC, but had no idea where they were.

I'm a competent forager now (lvl 100), but my melee & off magic suck (still only 62 melee). Was fun being able to take part in the event using my best skill.

Died a few times (mostly not keeping my eye on the nearby Kinchers). Tried to fight one or two 'low' lvl Kipees. They died in three hits.

All i can say is that with a little foresight in what to do, where to go etc, it would of made a good event even better!

oh and btw, not all of us have the ability to play for 8 hours straight. Any chance of a bit of content for us 'casual' players?

A lot of people are talking about this event in the past tense, as if it's already over and done with. My current understanding is that the 'event' is far from over, and the Kitin that people have been fighting are just the scout force. Indeed, it sounds like the NPC camps are not fully operational in Trykoth, and quite possibly in Zorai too.

From what I've been reading elsewhere on these forums, this event or story piece has more fun and surprises in store for us...

I agree. It's still on going.

I must raise my melee lvl!

In answer to the thread about 'tonights event'.....

This is not an event, it is a part of the story unfolding on Atys, with a role to play for everyone. XP is not bountiful and level is not important, everyone can contribute to the story, be part of the action and as they say in Springfield, be enbiggened.

This is far from your usual quests and missions and events, all of which are traditionally reward based. We are living in an unfolding world, part of a great saga, where the journey is more important than the destination. Which is just aswell, cos we aint got a clue about it :)

Not one of these mobs will give me even the slightest bit of XP so there is no way of paying off DP, the rewards are useless. So this is all 'story based' and to be honest I play games for 'gameplay' and a good story line is a bonus and adds to the game but the gameplay MUST be there. If you are just after a story go read a book.
The more important mission is to gather the secretions (via harvesting and hunting) and deliver them to the material NPC. That NPC then turns them into generic raw material that the crafers can use to craft weapons and armor. For every 5 crafting missions done, a guard group is created to help when the kitin start advancing.
Now this is an interesting aspect BUT with DP stacking i'm affraid I don't care about more guards or not, a little bit more information wouldn't have gone a miss. There needs to be a balance between realism and fun. As far as i'm concerned Dyron is out of bounds and i'm spending my time at Thesos until the event is over.

Now heres a thought, the mobs need not give XP but they could pay of a chunk of your DP proportional to your lvl, I know I keep going on about DP but lets face it DP isn't fun. Heck if I didn't get DP from the event or could have paid it off during the event I would of had a lot more fun. For me the DP was the biggest spoiler and because of the DP I expected super rewards! Which only lead to further disapointment. :(
