None of this is getting us anywhere so Im done with this post. I asked for q150 HA. In return I get flamed and told to do it myself. So much for relying on anyone else but myself.

Great posts, tin and zum. I am going to rip them off and post in a new thread in crafting that I'm going to title "Why do items cost what they do?". Maybe this will forestall some of the tells we all get, or at least make them more intelligent.

And nathan, I'm sorry if you feel flamed, but the fact of the matter is that you got an explanation as to your lack of response. It may not have been the one you wanted, but at least you got it.

i dont think its all personally ment at you nathan, its more a bit of a rant on the crafter/harvesters point of view.

i have no idea so much crafters were "guild only" on the NA server, since i'm a Euro server player. I make ql 200 armors there, it was definately not easy getting there, a LOT of grinding and doing the same old thing over and over. However i do make armors for people outside of the guild, at least the ones i have no personal grudge against, only rule is: no high ql (= guild only ).

I make ql 170 heavy/light fairly easily now so its not much of a problem at all, especially since i can just get the mats over in dyron (great harvesting spot)
and make it maybe 30 mins later. The problem is what i ask for is ql 200+ armor mats, which i can use to grind even more. Money is totally invaluable to me and many other crafters. Then again i see not much people being able to get around 500+ armor mats ql 200+, so pretty much i hardly get much requests at all :p (not that i'm bothered, i wont go around screaming for people to buy my stuff or promote it , the way i see it we are providing a service to the fighters/mages, not the other way round :P )

I think the real problem here is fighters/mages who dont harvest/craft and have no idea whatsoever it takes to actually level up in one of the crafting trees. Must i mention that at lvl 100 every armor part has its own tree? Why do you think there were lvl 200+ fighters/mages/harvesterrs long before crafters?

I do think people should sell outside of guilds, not the best stuff for sure, but at least some choice armors... I think its a win-win situation, the crafter gets mats or money to buy mats, the fighter gets an armor...

On a side not about lvling harvest now: its alot harder for people to do than before patch 1 (obviously), people now get around 1k per min, where it used to be 3K per 30 seconds. Theres a big difference there. Someone who would start harvesting after patch would need to make probably 4x as much effort as someone who harvested before the patch 1. I try to keep this in mind and help out where possible and "let" people care for my sources so they get an extra 500 xp, (although losing 1K myself).Helping out also includes crafting armors for people outside of guild...

SO anyway:
crafters: dont be greedy
fighters: dont try to underestimate how hard harvesting/crafting really is, what the crafters ask is nothing compared to what it would take you to get to their lvl to make those armors yourself.

EDIT: Btw Tin,
heavy armor parts are as follows:
helmet/vest/pants 9/8/7/2
gloves/boots/sleeves 6/5/4/2
for a total of 45/39/33/12
and 129 mats.

I'm leery of posting this even as a joke, but for a melee to understand a crafter perspective, try imagining this tree split.

L1-20 fight
L21 'fight' splits into one-hand, ranged, close-combat and two-hand fight and each branch gets levelled separately
L51 each of those branches splits into weapons branches like pike, sword, mace and axe to be levelled separately.
L101 each of those branches splits into strike specialties like hand, arm, leg, foot, chest and head. While you may be a L150 2H-sword fighter in 2HS (leg), unless you have levelled all branches equally, you fight as a L100 2HS (arm) melee when you hit the arm.

If you are a L150 (hand) melee, you will have an 80% chance of hitting a L150 creature if you strike the hand (with no way to improve that percentage). You will not be able to attack anything higher than your highest skill level. If your 'arm' skill is 150 and you try to hit a L150 creature's head using your L140 (head) skill, you have a 64% chance of success. You have a 48% chance of hitting something 20 levels above your skill and over 40 levels difference, your hit chance drops to 5%. You will one kill it every shot (meaning the animal is dead and you cannot attack it again) or you will wound it or just startle it and it will run away, but if you fail your hit, you get lowered or even no XP and no matter what you do, that animal is now gone.

Once all the animals are gone, you must engage in a herding process and either buy or gather all of the animals into a single place again. However, yubos are tricky. They will only be herded in sunlight in summer. Mektoubs will only be herded on rainy autumn evenings and kipees and pretty common, but the good kipees can only be herded for two minutes out of every hour for one day in the week... and they can only be found behind a wall of kinchers. Herding, by the way, is a special skill that has to be levelled separately for each continent.

You will have to fight everything solo and (again) you will not be able to fight anything above your maximum skill level even if it means hitting timorous yubos for 10 levels at 1000 XP a piece *max*.

Imagine having to do L100-L150 five or six times just for basic competance. And then again at 150-200.... and again at 200-250.

Welcome to the wonderful world of armour craft. :)

(EDIT: saw your correction to the armour amounts. Appreciate that. :) )

Tin.
