lucid120 wrote:So is Gamespy. They said in their "out of the box" preview that they would be back in a few weeks with a much more indepth review of the game, including raid system etc. That would be due any day now.
It'll be interesting to see how that pans out, considering IGN is the same company.
You mean this one?

yeah, 4 out of 5 stars. I thought I'd seen it already, but couldn't find it on the site so assumed it wasn't the one they were talking about in their preview.

See, at least this person has obviously played Ryzom long enough to give it an accurate review. She mentions the problems and the things she liked and disliked. If the other person was as thorough there would be nobody flaming his obviously lacking review skills.

look at his logs, he's off of new island and he's a zorai.
reviews on games are usually based on the reviewer's tastes. i can't write a review about a game based on what you like, but on my own opinions on it. what you do is find a review with similar tastes as you have and go with his/her statements.
i think gta sucked. i hated all the gta series. does that mean i don't know what i'm talking about? no. so if i wrote a review, it would express my opinions, not what everyone else thinks of it. of course my article wouldn't be published b/c the majority of game players would cry as so many of you are doing now with the ign review.
start your own website, write your own reviews. most isp's give you free webspace. get the word out if you love the game.

4 out of 5 stars is 8 of 10, FYI.
IGN = 7.9

I can do basic division!
I have absolutely no problem with the IGN review, I think the IGN review made some very valid points. Hey!they're both good ratings.

eh. I grabbed your quote to compare, didn't mean to imply it directly to you. More or less, I wanted to show everybody that has complained that it's a good score.

Yeah, given this, what Korin77 said is totally ludicrous. it's like one % off. How do you know the person spent MORE time? just because the IGN guy showed ONE screen shot he thought fit from his entire experience playing the game? There's plenty of screen shots on the Ryzom board to promote the main land, but NOOO we only want good reviews so other people will come play our game...waaah waaah
You think a bad review is a bad thing? A bad review makes the company think, 'ok we better hop on this quick.'. It's better for us AND them. If they can patch things up like Eve did, then there will be an increasing playerbase rather than declining. It wasn't even a bad review. It was fair! If that IGN guy wrote eight pages, you know he may have written 6 pages of more depressing stuff to convince people not to play? I don't think he put a lot of the good things up there because it's already inherent knowledge of all who play and he may feel we'll spread that word.
Like I said, the screenshots alone kick ass and the movies...hello? Those are why I started playing when my friend showed me. I've even got a few screen shots to submit myself. The support in game is the best I've seen, and I'm sure the company is working hard on all the issues. Yeah yeah some of you know I have a few personal complaints, but honestly that's one or two individual aspects I'm miffed about. We're talking about the game here as a whole and I don't think the reviewer picked any one thing apart.
