I´m in no way inclined to somehow be "elite" over any newbe I encounter.
In fact quite the opposite.
I´see the problems Ryzom is in, I just don´t see them the way you do and I just don´t agree with your proposed "solutions".
If you´re not able to take on a decent discussion and any other kind of conversation than trying to spoil my reputation, then yes indeed,
this conversation is in fact over.

Funny isn't it?

That's one of the main reasons why I'm not what you'd call Mr Optimistic these days, with respect for Aniro and Leanon, if the English-speaking server is in such a state there's something seriously wrong.

And PS: This isn't a new situation.

I have to wonder if it's more a case of the Ari population being spread over more time zones. I really wanted to attend the celebrations but both runnings of the event were in times that didn't suit me.

I don’t see how removing DP and effectively giving everyone perma-cats adds anything to the game. DP is the sting that makes sneaking thru a dangerous area and not dying fun. Also, the way XP and skills work gives Ryzom a huge advantage when it comes to new players being able to group with older players, so the argument of reducing the XP cost really don’t fly with me either.

This is not about being an elitist-player, it’s about preserving some of the things that makes Ryzom different. We need to build upon the things that make Ryzom unique to attract players both old and new, not simply make it easier.

So what would you suggest, to attract those new players. Bearing in mind that a lot of MMO players don't want to be held by the hand by established players.

There are a lot of good suggestions, both here on the forums and in new feedback area. Off the top of my head here are a few.

Finish the Encyclopedia – by far one of the more unique features of Ryzom and the most popular suggestion on the feedback list.

Stir up the OP cold war – I have always enjoyed a good OP battle, we need to have more of them. If the players aren’t interested in starting something, the dev’s need to kick over the ant hill from time to time.

Add more to the OP besides cats & mats – there are 3 unused construction sites on an outpost, I am sure they are there for a reason, right?

Flesh out the tribes / races / factions more – Give me a reason beyond teleports to join a faction or ally with a specific race and help out the tribes.

More RP goodies – Ryzom has always had an above average RP population, and they are for the most part neglected in other games. If you build it they will come…

Expand the benefits of being in a guild – there is evidence of plans to do a lot more with guilds such as guild trainers and guild points. After seeing some of the things initiated in WAR and EQ2 as far as guilds I am sure there are tons of ideas rolling around now.

I think a lot of it is getting the risk:reward balance right. Taking away the risk entirely may mean you get what you want all the time, but there's no satisfaction in it.

Ok, those are ideas, but I don't see one of those ideas having the ability to attract new players.
