Anissa, you misunderstood
What I meant was that I can´t get behind the mindset, of "getting everything to max, the quickest way and then leave of boredom."
If they´d even just leveled less fast, they wouldn´t be bored so fast

Be a little bored most of the time so that in the end the boredom isn´t so huge.
Get used to it.

Something to do with the maxed out skills would be nice.

I know what the OPs are, but what are the OP wars?
And what the heck are shires? I found no mention of them on the forums.
Also, is there anywhere to see that old map of the spires? The link to the development page is of course dead.

I'd forgotten about Spires. For those, like, who have forgotten or don't know, you can read up on the old spires debate here:

(I'm rereading it now)

edit: Oh, and CoralVine, if I understand Animation correctly, it is an RP(ish?) initiative to bring more (perceived?) power to the players to push and evolve the Ryzom storyline. The first steps are, apparently, to bring player run governing to the game (which is why I linked Animation to Spires). For more on the origin of Animation from the GM/Event folks of the new company (Spiderweb), check this link:

wth are hobbits?
and yes, i meant shires, not spires. or other way around
"There is a fixed global amount of HPs for all spires, distributed among all of them – the more spires you own, the less HP each of them has, thus making it increasingly hard to defend them."
if a similar system existed for OPs...

OP's should go into contention every week or so, similar to other MMO's.
The current "dynasty" system is the main problem with OP's here.
Then, when you add the fact that they should also be GvG instead of faction wars, which leads to tiny guilds (that wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell of holding them in proper PvP), actually owning OP's "in perpetuity" then you have the most stagnant PvP system ever created.
Who caused this?
The "community".

I would think that it is more game mechanics than the community that caused this.
OP's wars are not limited to guilds. The benefits of those OP's are not limited to guilds either... if the mechanics of the game enabled the OP's to deposit cats to the guild member's inventories instead of the Guild hall and make them non-tradeable then OP wars might become guild vs guild again.

Well it could be argued that "only" a Guild can own an OP and the benefits accrue to the holding "guild", it is down to their benevolence, whether the mats get traded or not.
If I recall correctly, originally OP owning guilds were to have NPC trainers, to train guild members in different skills as well.
Either way, it still stagnates the game for the reasons I outlined above and the "community" could easily stop this "mechanic" from being used, if it had the willpower, which it quite evdiently doesnt.
As an example of a community interaction against a game mechanic, You can kill diggers in certain areas with impunity, but the "community" self polices that mechanic and only a few rogue players bother to do it because it is frowned upon by all the other players.

Yep, alongside guild-only NPC vendors selling items at reduced prices, and NPCs handing out guild-oriented tasks and missions.
