I had a feeling new content would follow with billing at the end of jan, then billing or the uber patch never came so I figured maybe VL sick of introducing gamebreaking bugs to ryzom decided to hold off until it was un-bugged.

would be nice if someone said "hey guys this code monkey game is harder than I figured, will take me a little longer" but *shrug*

as for the PvP/carebear alliances this has been going on since time began, if the evil killers got the upper hand many left and said "this isnt my game anymore" if the carebears got the upper hand the pvp'rs did likewise.

Yes seems no one can live if they don't get their way lol :p

As for me, I'm both :p sometimes I'm Carebear, other times I want to mash ppls faces into the dirt, I just keep war/regular gameplay seperate(and ignore those who can't), and everything is fine.

On another note, I don't know about rolling the servers together, that could end well, or it could end terribly heh. Personally, I like being able to understand everything thats being said :p

Not going to the fact that some people would object to putting guilds like infinity or pyr militia in the same sentence as honourable nor am I going to give you my opinion on people who come up whith imaginative names that are not names at all but merly descriptions as that is besides the point of this thread.

For the same reason I'm not going to get into the subject of carebears taking over a game as I believe it not to be a bad thing, it is atleast a hell of a lot better than having a game taken over by the kinds of people who've provided much of the entertainment on MMORPG.com lately. (I do so hope DF is going to be a success as I'd hate to run into these guys in whatever MMO I end up playing...)

I do however still care enough about SoR's future to take a break from lurking to urge whomever is in charge of our beloved rootball to give us some clue as to what is going on and what we can expect.

As it stands valuable time has been wasted to could (and should) have been used to make Ryzom a success and the clock is ticking...

We the people need news, we need to know there is some kind of plan and that that plan is about to put into action. Not soon(tm) but soon!

Oh and we need shiny new stuff :D

At this point in time and in relation to all the new *** threads poping up every months or so asking the same thing and getting tons of replies (sometimes useless), the most important thing that people really want is not what is the future of SOR or what is the Plan of the Dev team.

The most important thing that worries everyone is to get A response from the owner or the Dev team. Any kind of response. Just to hear from them would probably start to revive the love for this game that we have.

At least this way we would know that someone out there cares. Then after that we know they are still ALIVE, then we could ask for a status.

We just need a proof that the owner/dev care for the community and are still alive.

It seems very simple what needs to be done for Ryzom to survive. There needs to be a re-release of the retail box copy of Ryzom. With that it will automatically generate reviews and free publicity. With some effort and funds put into advertizing the game would take off with huge amounts of new subscribers. Of course an initial investment would be needed to put the gears into motion. Investors could possibly make this happen if the company were lucky enough to find someone with deep enough pockets who believed in the success of this game.

Since the billing system has been problematic for the devs/company to implement at this time, perhaps allowing loyal players to voluntarily donate money to ryzom would be a small help in covering the many costs of running the game. It would be a easy way to earn some quick money that is probably the root of Ryzom's lack of momentum. I think you would be suprised how many players have such a sense of loyalty to the game they have loved for so many years through all its problems. I think many would be willing to make a donation to a game they have been playing for free for such a long time.

Very shortly before and after releasing the retail copy of the game, it would be absolutely crucial that new content be implemented to bring back the old players who have lost interest after attaining 10, 20 or even 30 master titles already. Hire new devs to speed the process of opening the Upper Roots, Raise the level cap, add a new race of playable homins. Introduce spires, etc. By then there would be enough players to make the game profitable and able to afford to pay programmers/devs to introduce new content on a regular basis.

I definately second this, I would easily pay the equivalent of any MMO sub RIGHT NOW, to the new owners, it would be simple to implement, just a PAYPAL account set up to receive funds from willing players and I am sure alot of others feel the same way.

Anything to keep the momentum up!

Persoanlly I dont care about updates, as long as I can login to Ryzom, I am happy, not in a fanboi way, I just love the world and its inhabitants and I am prepared to pay for that privilage, hopefully subs like this will help maintain Ryzoms continuance and maybe help generate new content.

For me its pretty obvious they dont say anything because they cant not because they dont want to. I dont know why they cant and i think to start speculating would be a very bad idea. Pushing for answers, speculating and making a fuss over it wont help anyone at all. Last but not least, to not say anything at all is much better and more honest than telling pleasant lies.
Any other company would have thrown a bunch of BS to appease the masses by now, and i respect the present owners for not doing that despite the pressure they been exposed to.

The fact the servers are up on their expense and they still do updates and improvements should be proof enough of the fact they care and are alive, and its a better proof than words could ever be.

Not that this is off topic in this thread or anything, but I don't see where people were doing that ..calling themselves vets here?

It is a gaming term however, used in reference to people have played their particular game for a long period of years..think its acceptable.

There are many here that consider themselves veterans and frankly I think that title is earned just by the loyalty they exhibit. Whether that bothers some or not...is neither here nor there. :P

In regards to being just ...happy with the status quo, in other words the silence that continues from month to month to month..well I posted this thread because I am concerned.

It seemed for awhile there when the servers came back up, there was a window of opportunity for the new owners and devs to take advantage of...there was renewed interest..for a little while, and old players were actually coming back or at least lurking on the forums.

I note that some of this still occurs, but what causes me concern is people stating that if and unless there are new things to do ingame, they won't be back.

Do we know that there will be new content..new whatever? Do we know that anything like that is planned for the future? I think I have seen some vague references, and believe me I try to read anything and everything on this forum, as its the only place we will get news of any kind on Ryzom's status.

Its fine that they have found sufficient funds to get the servers up and running again, but how long can they do this without implementing billing? Not that I expect an answer to THAT question, but nevertheless its something I think about.

Nothing is for free..really..specially paying to keep an online game running. Now if the owner has deep pockets and cost is no worry then thats fine too.

I can't be the type to stick my head in the sand and pretend that as long as the servers are up today, that they will be up tomorrow, I guess a further bit of information would underline that the game will survive and Ryzom has a future, for me at any rate.

As for cake or pie...

You should have simply ignored the post. Thats something kids say to make their point seem unbeatable. Like this.

- Anyone who PvPs must be a little kid, Anyone who disagrees with me, Is obviously a kid too.

Its an ancient defense, But it used to work back in elementary school :p

BTW, Anyone that disagrees with this post(or any other post I make), Obviously has less than an IQ of 3 :D
