Please release information as to who the current ownership and developers of the game are before the release of the subscription service.
There is no way that any bank, on-line payment service will allow the level of transactions that SW need to take on a monthly basis because SW is a huge credit risk (start-up company, no tangible assets, no track record). Unless they provide some sort of collateral or parent company guarantees. Maybe this is the "paperwork" problem that SW have.
In any case, the reason that payment services have strict controls in place about who they deal with is to protect the consumer.
If Spiderweb manage to get on-line transactions organised with a reputable payment service I would not be worried about subscribing without knowing who they are. If they use a 3rd party then I would be very worried.
I would still like to know more about them though

Ryzom might not have been developed the past year, but it had no owner the past year. When the new devs know the code they'll be working on stuff, and they'll actually tell us when things are ready and will get ingame.
I played RFO less than a year and saw more patches in that time than I did for the over 2 years I played Ryzom. Their devs were also pretty chatty both on the English and Korean forums. The game sucked and had tons of balance issues, but the development speed of the game was much faster than Ryzom's has ever been.
and its funny that you'd complain that RFO would take 6-9 months for a major content patch... because that would still be faster than Ryzom.

wasn't saying Ryzom was patching faster, but u can't use RFO as an example for patches is all i'm saying...

Actually, I used it because of that. It was slow development, the game itself was losing players fast, there were translation issues, etc, yet they were still able to develop the game faster than Ryzom ever has, even when it was with Nevrax. I found this amusing when I edited a few game names
HAH, Ryzom patch? barely, they'd be talking and we'd be waiting for that next major patch to come for like 6 to 9 months, and then they'd release half of it. And when we'd get the second half, another 3 months later, it wouldn't contain the features it was supposed to have.
Sounds pretty accurate for Ryzom as well, no? Granted we'd have seen more content if those times had been accurate... problem is mostly we get told what the devs would like to do and never actually see anything close to making it in-game.
Another good example for how lax Ryzom has been on the content patching is SWG. They have lost the majority of their player base due to some bad decisions, yet they still patch the game regularly with new content/skills and they communicate a great deal about whats going on. A game that lost most of its players, is owned by a company that many MMO players hate, and is almost 6 years old, yet it still receives more content patches a year than Ryzom has probably seen over 4 years.

Ok.. found a new search path.. did more digging. I don't know if what I found is correct but it's interesting. At this point, I'm not sure what to think, so I will probably subscribe tentatively. Though, I do hope we find out more.

I got to say I don't understand what all the secrecy is about if thats what it is.. if its just 'we've been too busy to chat much' well thats ok, but I'd definitely like to know more about their plans (in concrete language) before paying anything.

I find it funny that you mentioned RFO. RFO had a similar fate as Ryzom (Servers shut down, liciensing expiration, and later revival). It too is reopening it's servers this weekend after several months in hibernation. Totnkopf and rdfall, shall we place a friendly wager on which game will have more patches over the next 3 months (or time frame of your choice)?
Ahh the "Fantasy & Romance" lol...

You know where my bet would land, Senor Prey-hay. RFO sucked hardcore, but it'll still see more development in a year than Ryzom has seen in its entire lifetime.

Doesn't remind me of it. GF was upfront about their identity. They promised to develop the ominous catchphrases "content" and "quests". Then they did nothing, they just let the absorbed Nevrax putter out some stuff.
