Note: the Tryker wine is for the purpose of loosening up Matis people. Saving the good stuff for ourselves. :p

Besides, do you really want to see what Stinga rum does to these guys? just embarrassing...

"The Fyros are particularly fond of the dandelion wine and drink joyous quantities during the summer solstice festivities. It is said that the Fyros lost the ancient city of Karavia during the summer solstice of 2435, because the soldiers gave themselves to merry-making and dandelion wine!

For the Trykers the dandelion is also an emblem for freedom. The seeding dandelion is blown to the wind so that seeds of liberty may be sown in the four corners of the world. " [Encyclopaedia]

I think the Loss of Karavia as a result of festivities is why the Fyros are always looking angry and probably why they dont seem to hold any more Festivals

Funny that. When I first came to Ryzom I thought the opposite.

In appearance they're the most humanlike ofcourse, along with the Fyros, no argument there.

But reading the descriptions of all 4 races, the Matis seemed the most exotic to me. The Zoraï philosophy of pursuing wisdom and spirituality and caring for the planet was one I could understand and empathise with. The Tryker philosophy of equality and freedom and individuality was one I could understand and empathise with. The Fyros philosophy of loyalty and honor and discipline was one I could understand even if I empathised with it less.

But Matis philosophy? Romantic yet conquering? Striving for your 'true place' yet also striving to be the best? Loyalty to your superiors while trying to usurp them at the same time? Must be a totally alien way of thinking. To me they made no sense at all and just seemed to be evil selfish hypocrits. :p

Plus from the concept art, while the other races had cities that were clearly recognisable as such, the Matis seemed to live in trees that were barely distinguishable from the surrounding forests. That gave them a nice air of mystery as well.

Hence the most exotic - and thus interesting - race to play. :)

I do empathise with their way of thinking a bit better now, but from all 4 races it's probably still the furthest from my own. I make a terrible Matis really. :o
